After the exciting 2 days, Cecilia couldn't believe how fast everything was happening. To her, it was crazy how just the other day she cried to her brother about not being able to make friends.
Although her whole stay in Italy was finally figured out, she still had one thing to sort out. And this was what she was going to do about her parents. They wouldn't let her just stay with a guy and have some type of labour job. And if she stood up to them, they would probably cut her off. She wasn't that spontaneous. So she called Montgomery and told him about her intentions, then asked him to tell their parents that she had got to him, when in reality she was still in Italy. After carefully inspecting Damiano and the rest, Montgomery gave his approval. He didn't have those old-fashioned understandings of life and truly believed that a guy and a girl could live together without anything happening between them. But of course, like a big brother, he did give also a warning to his sister.
Now that this was sorted, she only needed to figure out how to make her parents believe she was on the plane. But thinking about it, she realized it was going to be easy.
"... so I'll just wait until the plane takes off and then get off the terminal," she explained to the rest of the group.
"Your life is so complicated!" Victoria exclaimed.
"You can give me your address, and I'll take the tube there," Cecilia told Damiano.
"Or you can stop being stupid, and I'll just wait for you at the parking." He explained." You seem really great, but you sure make bad decisions a little too often."
I just hope this is not one of them. She was thinking to herself.
"Okay, Dennis the menace, let's get this over with," Victoria said, getting annoyed at the long and stressful day she had. It's not that she didn't like Cecilia. She was never one to judge the book by its cover. But with all the pressure from work, the last thing she needed was a damsel in distress.
Everybody rode together with Cecilia to the airport and decided to wait in the car for her.
When she met up with her parents, the Lord was too irritated to speak to her and Mrs. Astor couldn't shut up about how disappointed she was. This went on for an hour until Cecilia finally got to the terminal with checked bags filled with rags. She felt like the main character. After waiting another hour at Starbucks for the plane to take off, she decided to get coffee for everybody else, and she got off the terminal.
Cecilia was thinking that the guys were going to be bored for 2 hours in the car, but they were actually having a pretty good time just chatting.
"Did it actually work?" Thomas asked when she got in the car.
"Yeah, I can't believe it!" She exclaimed. "Oh, I also got you coffee." They all thanked her as she handed it to them.
"It's pretty early right now, we were thinking of going to a house party for a while." Victoria let Cecilia know.
"If you don't want to, the others can go, and I'll just drive you home." Damiano offered, and this is when it hit her. What am I doing? HOME?! Am I actually about to spend 3 months living with a stranger? Get yourself together, Celia, there's no turning back now. Just go with the flow! "So, what's it going to be?"
"Um, let's go to this party. I really don't want to feel like a burden."
"Oh my God, you're not a burden. Guys, just get a taxi, I'll drive Celia home." Damiano told them and they all bid their goodbyes.
"I'm sorry!" Cecilia said when he started the car.
"Stop that! Do you want to try something else? Let's pretend like you and I are childhood friends."
"I understand that I might be getting annoying, but I'm just nervous. I've never done something like that before."
" Oh, because I take in hopeless girls in my home every summer?"
"I'm not hopeless!"
"You are pretty hopeless." He stated and she playfully slapped him. "Good. We'll just joke around the whole night, and before you know it, we'll be best friends. Unless you're tired and would like to go to sleep?"
"You seem pretty good at making new friends."
"I'm the best!"
In the car, they talked about their past for a bit until they finally got to Damiano's flat.
"Welcome to your palace, my lady!" He said, opening the door for her. "Right now you are looking at the living room, kitchen, and music studio. The bathroom's to your right and right next to the bathroom is the bedroom."
Cecilia started looking around and she was in awe. The flat was drastically more different in comparison to what she was used to. But she had to get used to it.
"I know it's messy, I swear it usually isn't! It's just that my thoughts have been all over the place lately."
"It is all okay. I can actually clean it up if you'd like." She offered.
"Don't worry about housework, tonight we're having fun!" After he said that, her overthinking mind immediately got to the scary thought of rape. "If you want to, you can leave your bags by the door and.... um... settle in I guess."
She did as he told her and excused herself to the bathroom. "Okay, Celia! Stop being so nervous, it's all going to be okay. This guy is actually being friendly, and you're ruining it. " She started prepping herself up in the mirror. "Oh God, he's way friendlier than I deserve. Why can't I just calm down?"
"Hey, do you want tea or something?" Damiano asked her through the door.
"Yes, tea'd be great. English Breakfast with milk and 1 cube of sugar please!"
"I actually only have mint tea and those little packages of sugar they give you in cafés."
"That'll do too, thank you!" After 5 minutes of splashing her face with water and trying to calm her nerves, she came out. Damiano had set up his small 4 person dining table with a coffee mug filled with tea from a tea bag and beside it 2 small bags of sugar. The whole scene was coming as a shock to Cecilia. She had started doubting if she could really live without her everyday life privileges. She sat down and thanked him, and then they sat in silence for a while.
"So, what do you like to do for fun? Like what do you do with your friends?"
" Well, we couldn't do much because I went to a boarding school, and we weren't allowed to go out. We also had a curfew as well. Most of our lives consisted of studying and talking about what we wanted to do in the future."
"And what did you want to do in the future?"
"Have you seen The notebook?"
"Nope." He laughed a bit at the thought of watching a cheesy romance film.
"Well, the girl from the film's life was a lot like mine. So in the beginning when she found the love of her life and also for a bit started living her life freely I decided that I wanted to do the same but for the rest of my life, actually."
"Well principessa, this summer this is exactly what you're going to get!" He stated confidently. "But... for this to work out, you need to loosen up and just live in the moment."
A/N: One more week and it's summer break! Yaaay! Sorry for the delay, I had two really annoying exams this week. But now that everything school related is out of the way I'll update this more often.
