Their screams were louder than thunder, and San didn't even have to peek out his door to know that his parents were at it again.

San had known from a long time ago that their relationship was never perfect. It wasn't even close.

At the start, when San was born, they seemed like they were so in love, but maybe the boy was too young at that time to notice that they weren't in love.

They really weren't.

The signs were clear, and it was quite often that his parents fought. It wasn't anything new, and that was what San hated the most.

But it wasn't that bad, the fights weren't too bad, they didn't do it that much, given that his father was rarely home. As much as San would like to spend time with his father, he was glad when he wasn't home, since that meant he didn't have to deal with them fighting.

But just recently, they found out his father was cheating. That was why he was out so often.

And instead of divorcing him like she should have, his mother still chose to stay with his cheating father.

Not because she wanted San to have both parents in his life, he was old enough to understand and plus, he never really had 'both' parents to begin with. It was either his mother or his father, they both didn't spend time with San together.

She stayed with his father because she didn't want to be known as someone who was divorced, and also because her mother wouldn't be happy if she got divorced.

So instead, she stayed with him and that resulted in many, many fights.

They were worse than ever, and sometimes his father even raised his hands at his mother.

Despite his fears, San managed to stick his head out the door of his room and his thoughts were confirmed, they were fighting again.

They spat words at each other carelessly, not even caring if anything they said hurt the other. San briefly remembers that his father had brought some women home last night, and that caused the two to fight after his mother came home the next day and saw a woman in their bed.

The woman was long gone by now, but San managed to get a peek of her. He felt disgusted. The woman looked to be only a few years older than San, she might as well be either 18 or 19.
