it was the beginning of december now, the snow had settled weeks ago leaving hogwarts to freeze.

nora had been texting with draco everyday, about anything. school, the weather, their least favourite teachers, random drunk texts, and lots of compliments. the conversations she had with him always left a smile on her face.

she entered her transfiguration class to see every one lined up around the room, with professor mcgonagall standing at the front of the class.

she was late, like always, so when mcgonagall stared her down as she stood by the wall, it didn't have any effect on her at all.

"miss roberts, you are late. again." the professor was fed up with her tardiness, but no matter how many detentions the girl was given, she still arrived late, so most teachers just told her off then let her sit down.

"it appears i am, professor." nora yawned, she only woke up 30 minutes ago.

mcgonagall internally groaned, but let her be. "we will be doing a new seating arrangement today. you will be paired with someone who can help you improve your transfiguration skills, or you will be the one helping someone else improve."

many students looked to be in physical pain, because they didn't want to change seats, and because mcgonagall always let them pick their seats.

"mister potter and miss parkinson."

"mister weasley and miss greengrass."

"mister nott and miss granger."

nora tuned out the professor and started tracing the grain in the wood flooring with her eyes.

"miss roberts." her head shot up to see mcgonagall giving her a death stare, to anyone else they would have been utterly terrified, nora just smiled, tilting her head.

"yes?"

"were you listening." the professor already knew the answer.

"nope." she popped the 'p'.

"please go sit beside mister malfoy, he's your partner." mcgonagall waved her hand in the direction of the blonde and kept listing off the rest of the names.

she sat down beside him, glad that he picked a desk near the back. nora shot him a quick glance but immediately went to scroll through pinterest.

draco tapped her shoulder. "roberts." he hissed.

"what." she turned and shot him a stare. sure, she has had a crush on him since 4th year, but she refused to appear weak. that was only for texting him when her identity was a secret.

"i'm second in this class so i can only assume you suck at transfiguration, yeah?"

she hummed, nodding her head.

he groaned. "how can you suck at transfiguration?"

"i don't know malfoy, how do you bleach your hair?" she smirked, knowing he was smart enough to figure it out.

"i don't!" he looked very offended, but soon a look of realization covered his face. "wait. you don't suck at transfiguration do you."

she smiled, she knew he was smart enough.

"nope, i'm great at it. i just don't do the work."

"huh."

the rest of class they just did review, and draco found nora quite fascinating. the way she slightly furrowed her brows when confused, the smirk she gave the professor, and the small crystal rings and necklaces she wore.

when the class got dismissed, nora found she didn't mind being draco's partner, and draco didn't mind being nora's.
