Kono pov
My brother went to do some studying. Due to the fact that me and kiyoko and I were good about getting our work done we sat in my room chatting with each other about random stuff.
"So what do you do for fun?" Kiyoko asked letting her fingers brush through her silky hair which made an odd sensation bubble up within me. I look to my window and away from the girl.
"Uh I do ballet." I say in a small tone. I risk a glance at the beautiful girl and see her offer me a sweet smile which caused my cheeks to heat up. To my dismay Kiyoko saw the red on my face and decided it would be 'good' to address it.
"Kono-san, are you alright? Should we open your window, you seem a bit heated." She said a worried look spreading over her wonderful goddess features. I shake my head indicating I was fine. Though I did look to the window seeing it had stopped raining.
"The rain stopped, it's pretty late and you should get home." I say softly. Kiyoko nodded her head and stood up taking her phone out and giving me a look. I of course, had no idea what it meant until she spoke.
"Can I get your number Kono-san? I thought it might be nice to hang out sometime." She said. My cheeks flushed a bit and I got up taking my own phone out giving the black haired wonder my number. She texted a quick 'Hello!' to see if it worked.
Kiyoko informed my brother of her departure and in minutes she was on her way. I went to the kitchen getting a small snack before heading to bed.
...
The next morning I got up early again taking my pointe shoes out and inspecting them for flaked off skin. I found a bit and got a rag to catch it when the flakes of dead skin fell out of the shoe. I crinkled my nose in disgust. I went to my bag getting out normal, flat ballet slippers and put them on beginning to stretch and do morning exercises. The sun had woken me up which meant that yet again Koshi wouldn't have to.
I finished stretching and began to gather my things for school since it was a Tuesday. As I did this I mentally went through the steps I'd been messing up the previous day. Even trying to visualize the moves was making my brain hurt and by the time I was all packed and dressed and sitting in the kitchen with Koshi I had a full on headache. I guess my brother noticed my distress.
"What's up Kono? You seem a bit sickish." He asked worried. I took a generous bite of my rice and chewed for a long time.
"I gave myself a headache from trying to mentally image how to do a few ballet moves." I offered the information before shoveling the rest of breakfast into my mouth and setting out for school.
...
When school was over I waved goodbye to Iwaizumi and Oikawa and heading out to walk in the calming afternoon breeze to ballet practice. I prayed I'd magically be able to do the right move this time.
Nari-chan greeted me at the door with a bright smile. I unpacked my things, the girl followed me and began to talk quickly.
"We've got ourselves a spot in the qualifiers for competition season." Nari said with joy. I leap to my feet also overjoyed at the news.
"I assume we'll be doing the routine we're working on now for the qualifiers." I say to Nari. She nods then narrows her eyes.
"Have you mastered the moves yet?" instead of responding I just walk to the bar and begin stretching with the others.
...
Practice consisted of me doing well until the exact same spot in the routine. When Iko gave me the stink eye and Nari made a tsst noise I lowered my head and apologised.
"Don't worry, you'll get it soon." my teacher informed me at the end of the day as I packed my things. This made everything worse, in my humble opinion when a teacher says things will be alright it means the opposite.
I left for my babysitting yet again mentally picturing the routine in my head. It made my head hurt just like before. I knocked on the Hinata's house door which opened within seconds revealing a smiling Ms. Hinata who held Hina-chan in her arms. I took a step up the front steps which send a small twinge of pain shoot through my right foot. I guess it still hurt from practice. I bite the inside of my lip and smile at Ms. Hinata and Hina-chan.
"Hey there Sugako ready?" Ms. Hinata asked to which I nodded my head. Hina-chan's mother left after grabbing her bag. I hung out with Hina-chan until Shoyo got home. This time I would make sure not to stay completely silent near him. I hadn't even realized I'd never spoken in front of him.
"Can we dance again?" Hina-chan asked touching the side of my phone with hopeful eyes. I smile and nod finding a playlist for the young tangerine. The two of us messed around and I held back a small yelp as the pain from my foot shot through me anytime I put too much pressure on the foot.
I knew I should've rested.
But I also knew that I needed to get the moves correct and hard work was the only way.
Hard work with just a bit of pain.
