We also wanted to thanks Miss Thorne for this original illustration! 🧡

Can you introduce yourself?

Hi! I'm Kaulin, also known as Aubrey Thorne. I am a freelance Illustrator and a long-time fan of the Is It Love? otome series.

When did you start drawing?

I started drawing when I was about 3 years old. My mother is an artist. She and I would paint together when I was a child. I have been trained in traditional art but I only learned digital art about 4 years ago.

How did you get into Is It Love? fan art?

I was researching on the internet and I stumbled across an ad for "Is It Love? Drogo". The image intrigued me and I went to download the app. I was instantly captivated by the story. I became so inspired that I started to draw scenes from his route. I remember sending the images to a few fan pages on Instagram, and eventually I was convinced to make my own page for my IIL fan art. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made!

What is your favorite IIL character?

Drogo will always be my #1! He's such a dynamic character. There are just so many different sides to him. You never know what you're going to get when you encounter him. He's full of surprises. But Sarah is another character that I have taken an interest in. She is probably my second favorite character. I cannot wait to learn more about her! She's beautiful and has this very outgoing and confident personality that intrigues me.

What is your favorite IIL story?

Drogo for sure! Lol. I love the way he and the protagonist seemed to grow from season 1 to season 2, not only as individuals but romantically. As the story went on, we had the opportunity to learn more about not only Drogo, but his protagonist and the history behind the vampires and witches, opening up the Mystery Spell Universe. I'm a sucker for world building.

What thematics do you like to explore in your art?

I love fantasy, supernatural and emotional themes. I feel more connected when I draw things that don't exactly exist in this world or things that are difficult to explain. It leaves more room for imagination and breaking the rules of reality. Everyone experiences things differently and it's really cool to try to imagine how certain characters perceive things.

Do you have a dream project?

Ever since I was in high school, I have always wanted to create a visual novel. It's something I hope to do even now. I love creating universes, characters and stories.
