Two : Flash Before My Eyes

The Next Day

I woke up after my alarm, and running late for what feels like the millionth time in my life. It's only the second day of the first month and I'm already down and about. I scurry around trying to find all my necessities for the day. I head to the bathroom and reach for my hairtie and tie my h/l h/c hair into a lazy bun and pin the strays with Bobby pins.

I grab my bag and head downstairs where mom is making coffee and toasting gluten-free bagels.

"Good morning y/n-hun! Want some coffee!? Let me guess...black?"

I nod and smile over towards the kitchen, "yes indeed. Can I have two bagels for breakfast? We have practice today and I'll need some energy!"

"All right, let me get another one going." She nods and tosses another bagel in the toaster.

I sit at the island and pull out my phone, and my eyes and brows go wide.

He can't stay calm for five minutes! That concerning dumbass.

I immediately get up from the island and head to my room. I say I forgot something and run back, shutting the door behind me, I slide to the floor, leaning against my door and frantically dialling Oikawa's number.

The phone rings 3 times before he answers.

"Y/n-chan! Oh my god you responded. How are you, are you doing ok? What's going on!?"

I laugh silently, "I'm ok. Just a bit bruised and sore. I'll be at school later. I'll see you then ok."

He sighs over the phone, "good to hear, I was worried. Love ya y/n bestie!"

"Love ya too."

He hangs up the phone, and I open the door making my way back down to the kitchen.

"Who was that!?" My mom asks, packing the bagels in a plastic container.

"Oikawa. Just wanted to know why I didn't pick up and respond at 3am yesterday."

She laughs and opens the front door, "well I think it's time you go unless you want to be any more late."

I nod and give her a hug, "see you after dinner."

She reciprocates with the hug and kisses my head, "see you then, hun."

I get to school only 10 minutes late, and the teacher doesn't even mind. The class was reading the new chapter assignment for English, so I quickly take my seat and open my book. Hanamaki, a member of the volleyball team, and my partner for every subject, turns to me and holds his book open.

"We're on this page, and it's very boring so pull out your phone will you can!"

I giggle and smile, "all right thanks!"
