Akaashi jolted awake from the blaring sound ringing in his ears. It felt like a hundred televisions were broadcasting at him.

He got up from his bed, covering his ears as he head towards the living room where the sound came from. There he eyed his father, giving him a look to turn down the volume.

Akaashi was frozen in his place when he saw his parents' eyes which were focused on the television in front of them. It was making a static noise. Nothing was broadcasted on tv.

"Mom?" Akaashi called. It took him twice to make his mother look at him, her face in shock at seeing Akaashi.

"Oh, Keiji, you're awake. I didn't notice you there." His mother said, walking to the dining table. "Do you want to eat? I'll prepare your breakfast."

"Okay," Akaashi answered, sitting on his chair. His mother prepared cereal and waffles for him.

He looked into his mother's hands. He wondered why it was trembling. On another usual day, his parents were acting weird. His father was still focused on the screen like he was waiting for something.

Why aren't they changing the channels?

Akaashi was about to eat the cereal when the screen showed the flag of Japan, followed by a buzzing noise that went for five seconds. And that moment Akaashi didn't want to watch the announcement he only saw when he was watching The Purge movies or when an apocalypse or disaster was going to happen.

The broadcast was only audio. There a man's voice spoke, the voice was barely audible until little by little it became clearer.

"This is a national emergency. A fifteen-kilometer-wide comet has been reported to hit Earth two days from now. This comet is named The Destruction. This is expected to hit the Pacific Ocean by November 13. The citizens of Japan are expected to be evacuated to a secure location. Please take only important belongings. The survival of humanity is at risk with this comet. Be safe and may God be with us all."

That message sent shivers down Akaashi's spine. He was shuddering so much that he dropped his spoon. Suddenly, his stomach churned, not wanting to digest any food at this moment.

Deep in his mind, Akaashi wished he hadn't woken up that morning. He slapped himself, thinking that it was just a dream, but the harsh pain made him awfully convinced that this was real. He couldn't bear waking up and knowing that the world would end in two days.

"Keiji, honey, are you still going to school?" His mother asked, stroking his hair gently. Akaashi's father came closer to them.

"Yes, mom. If you will allow me." Akaashi answered. "If this is the last chance I'd go to school, then I'll go before we evacuate." He said, standing up. He wrapped his arms around his parents' necks, embracing them. He buried his face in their shoulders, preventing himself from crying.

"Go home early, Keiji. And be safe."

Akaashi quickly went to his room and put on his uniform. The announcement made him late for morning practice. Perhaps his mind passed out. He didn't want to believe a comet a size of a city was going to collide with Earth, much less near Japan. His mind still couldn't process the truth, and neither were the club members.

They were dazed, quiet at morning practice. They couldn't focus at all. Half of the club members didn't show up in the morning, but it seemed like many of the students didn't go to school that day. I mean, who would want to go to school when you just received the news that the world will end?

"Hey! Keep your eyes on the ball!" Their coach said when a spike hit Konoha in the face.

"Sorry!"

Akaashi observed his teammates. The news spread around Fukurodani like wildfire for those who didn't watch the broadcast. Some of them treated it as a joke, and the ones who had seen it—like Akaashi—had a different kind of expression on their faces.
