You never thought you'd find yourself spending your free time with Bucky. You didn't think it would be possible. He always spent time with Steve or alone. Once Steve was gone he pulled away from everyone. It made you sad to see him that way. It was very few moments but it was enough for you to sense it. He had recently spent some time with Sam. You received a call from Sam to visit Louisiana, you accepted the invitation. You never really had a reason to visit until now. You watched as Sam's truck pulled in to pick you up. As you approach the truck you realize Bucky is getting out the other side to open your door.

"Sergeant Barnes! Thank you, I was expecting Cap to be picking me up," you say as you get into the truck.

He closes the door behind and holds on to the door by the window and says "Y/N, I think at this point you can call me Bucky." he jokes.

He walks around the truck and you watch him, he's watching you back. The eye contact normally would've made you glance away in an instant. Something kept your eyes locked. Before he got to the driver's side you reached over and opened the door. He looked down and smiled.

"Uhm, Thank you, I-uh don't remember the last time anyone did that for me," he adds.

Way to go Y/N, you're already off to a great start!

"I'm sorry, old habit," you reply.

"Uh- It's a good thing, no need to apologize" he nods his head and smirks as he puts the truck in drive. The smirk never leaving his face.

"So, how are you enjoying yourself out here?" you ask.

He twisted his neck abruptly in confusion. He was processing your question. His brows furrowed made you question whether he was confused about why you asked or confused at how to reply to you.

"You can make something up if you don't want to answer me truthfully," you say as you look out the window.

"No, I just didn't know how to answer. I guess I have been enjoying my time out here. I-uh I'm happy you made it out to see us, or see Sam." he stumbles over his own words.

You normally can read people with ease. Any time you've been in a room with Bucky you could sense his grief, his personal resentment. Now he's all over the place. You don't know if he enjoys your company or he's hating every moment.

"I don't know if I'm making you uncomfortable, how about we listen to music so I don't keep forcing a conversation on you." you request.

"Oh I don't mind the company." he glances over at you.

The two of you arrive at Sam's house. He's waiting out front.

"I think Buck was a lot more excited than I was to see you. He practically begged me to let him pick you up," he teases as he hugs you.

You turn back to look at Bucky as he leaning on the truck with his tongue pressing against his cheek holding back a smile.

"Really, I couldn't tell." you smile at Bucky as Sam leads you inside the house with your bags in his hands.

Dinner was something special. The stories being told and the laughs that were had were something that seemed everyone needed. Granted it was mainly you, Sam, and Sarah who were talking. Bucky as always kept mostly quiet but when he did speak it was always passive-aggressive and witty.

"Aj, Cass start helping me clean up in the kitchen," Sarah says to the boys as she walks over to the kitchen.

Bucky shoots up, "You made us a wonderful dinner, let us take care of clean up." He gestures over to you and Sam.

"Sarah, let us take care of it. You and the boys enjoy some time together. We'll manage." you agree with Bucky.

Bucky takes the dishes out of Sarah's hands. "Let's go boys before they change their minds." she scurries out behind the boys.

Bucky is washing dishes in the kitchen. You and Sam are in the dining room cleaning off the table. You get distracted watching Bucky in the kitchen.

Sam hands you the leftover dishes, you never peel your eyes away from Bucky as he places them in your hands "Go talk to him, you two are starting to bug me with your goo goo eyes." Sam mocks the looks you and Bucky would shoot back and forth.

"They aren't goo goo eyes." you glare at Sam as you walk into the kitchen.

Bucky throws a towel over his shoulder in accomplishment. He turns to look at you and watches you walk into the kitchen with more dishes. "I think I bit off more than I can chew," he sighs.

"Sorry, I can help?" you shrug.

The both of you are washing and drying dishes together. You remember what Sam told you in the dining room. You roll your eyes as you replay Sam saying 'goo goo eyes' in your head.

"Well that's the last of it," you say as you wipe down the sink.

He sets down the final dish, wipes his hands, and leans on the counter facing the dining room. "You sure there are no more dishes?" he turns his head toward you.

"I'm sure I grabbed all....." You look up from drying your hands. Before you could finish your sentence you realize he's looking at you. His soft eyes glazing a tender look at your entire face. You can feel him adoring you. You've never had someone look at you like he was just now. You can see a smile developing on his face.

You tilt your head "If you're not going to share what is on your mind you need to stop looking at me like that." you tease.

"How about I share my thoughts with you over a cup of coffee?" he bites his lip.

You smile at Bucky "I'd love that."

"I'm just going to have to get used to the goo goo eyes aren't I?" Sam jokes as he walks into the kitchen.

"They are not goo-goo eyes!" You and Bucky say in unison.

Bucky begins to laugh, you have your hand over your mouth.

"You're welcome!" Sam chuckles as he walks out of the kitchen.

Bucky reaches over your shoulder, "It's alright I love your goo-goo eyes."

"Yours aren't so bad either." you say as you wrap your arm around him and walk together into the living room.
