Sun was shining through the window and the cold air was filling the room in which Tom Slept. Fortunately he had soft and warm blanket tightly wrapped around him. Tom enjoyed the feeling of warmth, because it reminded him of everything he adored, loved and embraced. Slowly, his eyes began to open. Thomas's smile quickly vanished from his face. "Another morning." He groaned a bit, before he managed to stand up. After Tom stood up, he spun around looking for some spare clothes. "I know I left here some yesterday, where did it go?" Thomas began to look for his missing clothes in the messy room. There were bottles and empty packs ofcigarettes roling around. In general, it was a filthy bedroom.
The bedroom in which he was, was fairly quiet. The only hearable things were cars on the street in front of his apartment, which were making a ton of noise. Once he managed to find his lost clothes, Thomas walked to the living room. In contradiction, the living room was quite tidy. There wasn't trash roling around nor there were dirty clothes. Even dust wasn't present. He moved to the small kitchen area and turned on the kettle. While the water was boiling, Thomas opened bottom left cupboard and reached for instant noodles together with bowl and a spoon. He prepared said instant noodles into his bowl and poured it over with now hot and boiling water. The steam was making its way to the ceiling and yet its obstacle was Tom's head. Tom quickly waved with his right hand in front of his face to get the steam away, but he failed.
Thomas started sniffing around. The noodles were finally releasing some of the aroma he was so in love with. "Finally something delicious." Said Tom. After the noodles were done, he prepared some coffee for him as well. He put two sugar cubes in it and stirred it slowly. He wasn't rushing anywhere, after all it was Sunday. A day he hated and loved the most at the same time. Tom then sat on the chair. He turned on TV and listened to the morning news. While he was eating, sudden sensation of warm tingling emerged on his chest. He didn't notice anything strange at all. As if everything was normal. He continued eating his instant noodles, unbothered by something that may reveal its true colours in the long run.
At 11 o'clock Thomas went for a jog. He needed to sort his thoughts and so he put on a T-shirt together with leggins on which he put sporting shorts. He reached for his phone and earphones and played some of his favourite music. He took his keys, locked the appartment and ran. Once he was outside of the apartment complex, he jogged to the nearest park. It was a calm midday. Normally this park would be a busy place. Children would play around, loud childish shrieking would be heard but not today. While Thomas was jogging, his breathing got deeper and deeper. His chain of thoughts disappeared and now, at this exact moment, it was just him, breathing and his loud steps.
Suddenly his phone went off. It was buzzing for quite some time before Tom took off his earphones and answered it with a shaky voice. "Hello? Edd, what do you need now?" It was silent on the other end, or so Thomas thought. Fortunately he managed to hear some voices through his earphones. "Oh right hold on. I am just an idiot Edd." Thomas put on his earphones again. "Can you repeat what you've just said again?" Finally a loud voice could be heard from the other side. "Thomas! How are you doing? How did you enjoy-" "Okay, calm down Edd. One question at a time." Chuckled Tom. Edd hasn't talked to Tom for quite some time now. Both of them were busy with their own lives. Both of them were adults and both of them had responsibilities. "Okay, first question is how are you doing?" "Oh I am doing just fine. You see, I've just been jogging." replied Tom. "Still sorting out your debts?" Asked Edd.
He was still worried. Thomas was silent. He didn't know what to say. He couldn't bear Edd's pity, but he knew that lying wouldn't help anything at all as well. "I have almost all of them sorted out Edd. Thanks for your worrying. But are you sure that this should be one of the things you should worry about?" Asked Tom. "Best friends forever remember? I'll always worry about my dearest ones." Edd chuckled. Tom rolled his eyes. "Whatever you say Edd. Whatever you say. Anyway, how are you and Janet doing?" Edd almost choked up on his food. He coughed a bit before replying in an uncertain manner "We are getting married in few weeks." "Oh..." Thomas replied. "Well, be happy with her. She failed me and I failed her. So I am crossing fingers for you." Said Tom. "Thomas, you know that I'd tell you this sooner or later. It is fate. She loves me and I love her. I am sorry that it didn't work between you two, but hey. You still have me. Plus you both broke up in a good way, right?" Asked Edd. "Of course Edd. Of course." A weird silence arose between the two males. Tension was high as well. "Anyway Tom, I will need to go for now. I'll call you tomorrow again around... 14:30?" "Yeah, that's sounds good." The call ended and Thomas resumed with his jogging.
Once he was done with exercising, he went to his apartment and took a warm shower. Tom despised cold showers. It reminded him of despair he was once in.
