Iida Tenya

Ever since he could remember Iida Tenya knew he was destined for greatness. At least that's what everyone said. Born into an affluent and powerful pro hero family, Tenya could tell his future was already mapped out. Both of his parents were pro heros, his elder brother was too, even his grand parents held the profession and he knew that was what he was meant to do. Made to do.

When he was little, probably around the age of seven, Tenya had a theory. Young Tenya had spent most of his life watching and learning from his family as most children do. Long nights were spent laying on the cool hard wood floor of his bedroom wondering why they all looked the same. Him and his family. The resemblance scared him. He had seen photos of Tensei when he was Tenya's age and they looked exactly the same. The hair color, the eye brow shape, the same quirk of their lips in that smile, it was all too similar.

Now, Tenya was a smart boy and knew that most people look a little like their parents. Sometimes they had their mother's eyes or their father's hair color but Tenya looked a little too much like his parents. Like they had split their DNA and chose what aspects they wanted him to have. That was exactly what he thought. One look into his brother's biology textbook from school was all he needed to confirm. He was a man-made fake boy. A specimen grown in a lab to look and act and feel like an Iida. Why his family would do this he didn't know but he was going to confront them. This was wrong and Tenya always tried to do the right thing.

It turned out however, that his family just had really really strong genetics and that his parents had similar quirks. After a long talk with his mother and a tearful conversation with his brother where he tried to convince Tensei that they both weren't real, he was shown ultrasound photos. For whatever reason they put him at ease. Actual physical proof that he was his mother's son.

Upon this realization Tenya was faced with the consequences of being an Iida son. The near daily training starting from the age of ten. Sure, it was tons of fun running around with his brother and sparring with his mother- he would never deny that! But there were times where it was equally as stressful and scary as it was exhilarating. He soon was shown the painful Iida secret to growing stronger and faster engines. Over and over he would go through the process of getting his engines removed from his legs. Being virtually quirkless until his body replaced the missing appendage.

      He loved his family and still does to this day, but Tenya knew that not every family goes through such methods to strengthen their quirk. The Iida family was always loud about their affection for one another. Praise was given out daily. His father would notice his growing muscles and his grandparents would applaud his academic prowess. Tensei loved him fiercely and would give him pep talks when Tenya felt insecure and vulnerable enough to say anything. 

      His teachers were loud about their expectations. They would light up each and every time his last name was mentioned, as if it was a privilege to teach someone of his family's status. Certain teachers would pay him more attention than others but all of them would find a way to worm his hero family and his hero future of following in their footsteps into conversations. Tenya found himself constantly repeating, "yes I do plan on becoming a great hero like my brother" and "I have been training very hard thank you for asking" with the occasional "oh thank you for believing in my future". All of his teachers encouraged the family tradition.

      At first he loved his family legacy. He loved how people would often believe in him with just hearing his name. Tenya took pride in the safety and protection that his family gave to the community. But soon it because less of a fairytale, people would comment anytime he messed up and would whisper about him if he was not professional all of the time. He was always representing the Iida family name after all.
