Get to know your readers. If your writing a book with a type of ship in mind, you have to read books like that. Read good books, ones that have lots of votes.
Reading the books and the comments will get you to understand the type of writing the readers want to see.
You have to connect with them, reply to their comments, make sure they're grabbing onto your words.
The comments on Wattpad are painfully honest and that's exactly what you want to see. Small details like how the main character might act or how dramatic or less dramatic the writing is.
You have to reach for what the reader feels and put it in the story.
It's a tall order but that's one of the biggest things that matter for good writing.
But make sure you're not writing just for that one team of readers. Make sure you can reach all sorts of people by making the writing both relatable and funny, but has a good amount of dramatics and plot twists. Keep the reader guessing.
