"What are you doing here?" A boy, who looks like a kid himself with icy-white messy hair, beautiful sky-blue eyes, tall-ish, from my point of view from the ground.
"Nothin' don't be worried about me." Me, a just turned 13-year-old, next to a cave in the woods where I have been living for a while.
"Tch. I'm not worried. Have you been living here? Alone?" The boy who is obviously concerned said.
"And what about it?"
"Let's go," The boy made a disgusted face, "It's dangerous for you here."
"It'll be dangerous for me anywhere I am. I am fine here." I said, thinking that the boy is going to do bad stuff to me.
"I have food back at the place where I'm staying, come with me." The boy said, trying to convince me to go home with him.
"Okay!" A starved child wasn't going to turn down free food, and a warm place to stay, so I stood up quickly- almost fainting- when he brought up food.
He wasn't taller than me, so he wasn't as scary as I thought, but he helped me walk back to where he was staying.
The boy took me to an abandoned home, where he was stealing light from next door by a long extension cord that connected the two houses together, and water the neighbors connected for him. They didn't call CPS on him or his family, in exchange for the boy helping with their housework.
"What's your name?" He handed me a bowl of noodles because it was the quickest thing to make.
"Y/N, but my father calls me, Kali."
"Okay y/n, where's your father?"
"Please don't take me to him." I stood up from a busted old chair in anxiety, almost fainting again, he grabbed onto my back to hold me up, practically hugging me without intentions of hugging me, "Please please please please," I went up to him and grabbed his shirt, "I can't go back there. I can't go back to him. Please don't make me go." I cried into my hands, placing my head on his chest.
"Okay! Okay! Calm down. I'm not going to take you anywhere. I'm just asking." He pushed me away, holding my shoulders. Looking at my wrists that had been exposed through my dirty grey turtleneck sweater. He clenched his fist, upset, looking at my scarred wrists.
"How old are you?" I moved my hands out of my face.
"13."
"Okay, I'm Toya and I'm 15 years old."
"Toya-Senpai....?" I gave him a look asking if I could call him that.
"Definitely not. Just Toya is fine." He laughed.
"Okay, Toya-kun it is." I wiped my tears from my face, sort of kidding with him.
"Tch." He realized I wasn't going to call him 'Just Toya.'
"I guess that works. I went through the trouble of making your food, go eat it."
Toya-kun was never with the formalities. I wanted to add an honorific since he helped me, but he never let me call him Toya-Senpai, and he barely let me call him Toya-kun, not sure why. I'm just glad that I'm the only one who got nicknames from him, the cute ones, not the insults, well, maybe some I liked. He'll be the only one I'll call by -kun.
