Jimin turned around, expecting to see her. His nervousness was sky-rocketed as he scrambled for answers he would be providing to set it right but ghosts didn't need answers.
What he expected was her standing there with wide eyes, a scoff, a sharp quip to cut through the tension.
But it wasn't the same. She wasn't even there to begin with!
The gym was empty, save for the occasional tick of the wall clock. His own breath felt too loud, too shallow. His fingers curled into fists. His body was still heavily wired, every nerve still aching from the way she had felt under him, from the way her breath had hitched. Something pleasurable yet teasingly unbearable had pooled in his abdomen and it wasn't fading one bit. He swore he could still feel the heat of her skin against his, the way her lips had parted like she wanted it too. Did she?
What if she didn't? What if he... Did he overstep? His jaw clenched.
But she would have shoved him off, pushed him away, said something. Maria wasn't the kind of woman who let things happen to her. She fought back, bit back.
But at that moment? She melted. He watched her unravel, the glint in her eyes, the tension simmering within her, he wasn't hallucinating.
And then she ran.
A bitter chuckle slipped past his lips. His hands ran through his damp hair, frustration simmering beneath his skin.
Fuck, this is confusing! Did she want it to happen or did she not? Did I mess it up? Did I came out to be just another guy wanting to get in her pants? Ugh- that will be the worst! I don't even know what happens to me everytime she is close- Its like I glitch and all I can think about is-
"Fuck."
What was wrong with him? He had been with women before, he knew how this game worked. He was good at it. Too good, even. He knew exactly how to touch, how to tease, how to leave them wanting more.
But with her, the teasing changes into desire.
She flipped the game on him every time without even trying. She had made him want her. Did he really want her? Or was it just his hormonal sessions?
A harsh exhale left his lips. He needed to get her out of his system, needed to erase the way his body still craved what never even happened.
He pulled out his phone. His thumb hovered over the screen. His jaw tensed. His pulse was still hammering, a frustrating reminder of how close, too close, he had been to losing himself to her. He needs to get his head cleared and his balls at peace if he needs to set this right! He can't lose the comfort and trust she had found around him.
He pressed dial.
Jimin stood outside the door, shoulders stiff, fingers clenching and unclenching at his sides. The warm glow of the hallway light cast long shadows against the walls, but it did nothing to thaw the unease creeping beneath his skin. His breath was steady, controlled but his stomach churned.
This was supposed to be easy. It always had been.
A simple knock, a smirk, a mindless night to forget whatever the hell was clawing at his chest. And yet, his feet felt rooted.
His fingers twitched at his sides. Why the fuck was he hesitating?
He exhaled sharply, running a hand down his face as if he could wipe away the nausea curling in his gut. This wasn't him. He didn't freeze at doorsteps. He didn't get lost in his own head, second-guessing shit that should've been instinct by now.
But tonight? Tonight, everything felt wrong.
Maybe it was the fact that his body still ached from her touch. The ghost of her heat still lingered on his skin, refusing to fade. His lips tingled with the memory of almost... almost.
