The bike stopped with a screeching sound of tires. It came to a halt casting a shadow forth on the road as the sunset shone behind her. Her silhouette stretched out across the road. She smoothly dismounted, removing her helmet to let her hair cascade down her back. With a piece of chewing gum in her mouth, she absentmindedly chewed, the rhythm of her jaw movement a familiar comfort. Placing the helmet on the bike's clutch handle, she scanned the deserted area, finding no signs of life.
She strode towards the abandoned building. Adjusting the straps of her black gloves. The walls were adorned with graffiti, speaking of the rebellious spirit of the area. Within the walls sat a figure on the chair while being held by another as if a hostage.
Rose peered at the two. There was no glint of fear in her dark orbs.
"What brings you here?" From the depths of the shadows, Her voice pierced the air, cutting through the tense silence. The figure with long hair turned slowly, revealing a face hardened by years of street life. A face Rose recognized too well. "R, finally you are here?" The black guy with almost all of his skin inked opened his arms and smiled wide welcoming her.
However, she merely rolled her eyes at his gesture and strode past him without a word. "How rude" Ignoring his friendly tone, she approached the blindfolded figure seated before her. With a smirk hidden beneath her mask, she turned her gaze back to the man with long hair, raising an eyebrow in silent inquiry
"Care to explain what was so urgent"
Her tone remained unamused as she pulled down her mask, revealing her face to Frank. Despite her lack of expression, Frank couldn't help but smile at the sight. It had taken years to earn her trust, forged through a lifetime of helping each other since childhood. Frank recalled the time when he had almost been choked to death by a man for stealing a piece of bread from his shop, driven by hunger after days without a bite to eat.
Flashback~
The memory resurfaced vividly as he recalled the way he had wheezed and gasped for air, tears streaming from his eyes. The sadistic pleasure the man took in his suffering was etched into Frank's mind as if it had been carved there with a knife. As the boy began to lose his vision, he felt a warm liquid trickle on his face, a stark contrast to the cold grip around his neck. Slowly, the pressure eased, and the boy gasped for air, his lungs burning with each breath. When his vision cleared, he watched the grisly scene before him: the man who had nearly choked the life out of him now lay dead on the floor, a kitchen knife protruding from the back of his neck, its tip emerging from his mouth and splitting his upper jaw in two.
The man's eyes were wide open but held no light as his soul departed at the spot where he was killed.
The weak petite boy scooted back, a thick gulp running down his throat, his shaking orbs darted up to be met with the brown almond eyes. Rose looked towards him with cold eyes, a girl barely 10 years old.
Frank's heart skipped a beat as Rose extended her open palm towards him, revealing a loaf of bread. Relief flooded through him, washing away the fear and tension that had gripped him moments before. Slowly, hesitantly, he reached out and took the bread from her hand, his fingers trembling with gratitude.
Flashback end~
"What was the urgent matter that prompted your call?" She inquired.
"Big fish," Frank replied with a wide smile. Raising an eyebrow, Rose looked at him expectantly to which he shrugged nonchalantly, maintaining his cheerful expression.
"So, what's the reason for your visit, Mister?"
"Y-yes... I... You're R, correct?" he asked, his voice trembling with fear.
