Skipping a couple weeks, we land on our founders birthday. Matthew Causer, or Mr Causer to the engines and staff. this year he turns 40. and the society run a special surprise train for him hauled by locos 32635 and 6422. The appropriate LVR Head board used on the train.
In the afternoon, we got word that BR wanted us to put a "special train" of some kind. The train was to leave Bromsgrove at 4pm and head to the colliery at Blackwell. We were all confused because only two days ago BR had said there intentions to cut the line between Bromsgrove north (LVR station) and Bromsgrove South (The mainline station). We took the job anyways. Brighton works was assigned to this and he seamed happy about it.
Now the colliery in Blackwell isn't what it used to be. Its much more run down that when it began in 1932. Only 2 of the 6 locomotives are operational at the moment. If they do close, we think it be nice to buy the area and rolling stock and create a museum there! Brighton Works often goes there dropping of workman in the mornings. He tells us about BCC 33's attitude towards everything and how its strange compared to how he was in 63.
