Ten years ago.

"Wow, the sky looks great. What a perfect day to run!" Taehyung said as he shifted to the darker side of the forest, while a panting Jin followed behind him. "Yah, Taehyung! Tell V to stop this hobby of his to run on sunset!" The wolf growled and mind-linked him. "Hyung, he can hear you. Why don't you shift too? You're panting like a fish." Seokjin's nose flared at that, looking at the skipping wolf. "Be fast, Taehyung. Nana will be worried if we're late."

He kept walking behind Taehyung, feeling tired. The wolf replied with a snarl.

It was getting darker where they were, so Jin was about to ask Taehyung to head back when he talked to him through the mind link. "Hyung!! Did you hear that?!" he excitedly asked, now walking towards Jin. Seokjin heaved out a sigh because they weren't advancing to the deeper part of the forest. "Hear what, Tae?" Seokjin asked loudly, now walking back towards their way home.

Taehyung replied, "The growl, Hyung! It's like a pup trying to sound scary." He ran again after delivering his sentence, trying to find where it came from. Seokjin looked puzzled because he didn't hear anything and ran after his brother, who was now far away.

It was dark now. The golden sky had given way to darkness, and Taehyung was now almost out of the forest, still on a mission to find that cute growl. Meters away from their home and Jin was meters away from him.

Suddenly, Taehyung let out a pained growl. Howling loudly as it alerted Jin. Nana, his grandma, who was waiting for them heard it and rushed outside. There he was, laying on his side, whimpering coming out of his mouth. His body flinched as if he was being stabbed, letting out pained whines. Jin was worried; not knowing what to do. His brother's wolf size was big; even though he was still a child, his alpha nature was showing.

He panicked when his brother mind-linked him about his heart hurting.

"It can't be an heart attack right?" he thought. It was a mess inside his head.

Their grandma appeared, flashing a light on them. "Nana, Taehyung—." "Calm down, Jinnie," Nana said.

Nana waited for Jin to calm down. "Let's go; help me carry the big wolf."

(Taehyung's wolf form is like the normal wolf size but bigger for them at his age because he's an alpha.)

"Nana... What now?..." Jin asked his grandmother who was with him waiting for Taehyung to wake up. He had fainted earlier due to the pain.

"I don't know but let's keep waiting and hope for the better," Nana said. "You stay here; I'm going to cook us some dinner in case he wakes up hungry."

Jin nodded as he proceeded to pat the wolf's head. The wolf kept whimpering and flinching every second, its tail moving and curling due to pain.

They finished eating; still no sign of waking up. It had been two hours. His whimpers turned into growls and feet scratched the floor.

Nana ordered Jin to call her friend who might know what was happening to her grandson.

This time Jin shifted after 20 minutes and returned with an old man. They didn't need to explain anything; he examined the wolf and after a minute faced them with a little sullen and sad expression.

"He is losing his mate," the old man said slowly. "The bond that wasn't even connected started to fade. His human form is not letting V shift back. Taehyung is sad and V's mate will probably—"

A very loud growl interrupted him.

Its so deep and full of anger. The house shook as the wolf's body jerked to the side before blocking out again.

Now quiet as if he was just sleeping.

Nana cried with Jin as the old man looked shocked but soon replaced by a sorry expression.

"V's mate... died," he said slowly.

"And... V's human form gave up," Nana whispered softly.

"Basically he is dead," the old man continued sadly.

"So... in order for them to find each other, a wolf and a human should be present," he said gently.

"I'm sorry that I can't do anything," the old man said before leaving.

Nana and Jin continued crying as they couldn't accept this news about Taehyung who was now gone.

That night was gloomy as it started raining.
