A/N: Self Insert Key (this time with more options because growing up a black girl reading fanfics by white authors used to kick my ass. Aint no way my short 4c hair going to fit in a loose messy bun hoe).
(S/c): Skin Color
(H/t): Hair Texture
(B/t): Body Type
(E/c): Eyecolor
(H/l): Hair Length
Canonically for this book, Donelle is a dark-skinned black girl with medium-length 4c hair, that she usually wears in Bantu knots, dark brown eyes, and a muscular frame. She also has a cross between an Appalachian accent and also speaks in AAVE. (Like most black folks living in the Appalachian area lol). IF I do decide to make this an actual book instead of a self-insert, that is who Donelle will be. But for now, she is whoever you want her to be.

"...Don.....DON!"
Donelle sat up and hit her head on the top of the bunks.
"...shit" She grumbled while rubbing a small knot that would later form.
"Don-"
"What?!" Donelle turned to face the annoying voice that interrupted her rare chance of good sleep.
June Bahl was a short girl with brown skin, and short, wavy black hair. She often wore it in a messy pixie cut, but it was slicked down in a straightened way today. Her squad leader uniform was a grey peacoat with the SOS symbol on the back, which was a dying man with wings, holding a weathered shield. She wore black, formal leggings underneath and combat boots. The dress code for all squad leaders. She had a slight desi accent, that often totally came out when she was around people she was comfortable with. She also wore a black armband with a sword and shield and the letters "SL" in the center.
"Are you forgetting what today is? Or must I remind you, again?" June stared at Donelle with a small smile on her face.
"Of course not." Donelle Stretched, "You were more excited about it than me, " She walked over to the dorm bathroom, which was a completely white room with 4 toilet stalls, 4 shower stalls, and 4 sinks, which many would argue that it's too little for the 24 women who share the dorm room. On her way there she realized that the normally buzzing dormitory was empty. She looked at the digital watch on her wrist then peeped her head out of the bathroom.
"J, where is everyone? It doesn't start for another three hours? This room should still be full?" She looked around confused while grabbing her toothbrush out of her assigned locked cabinet.
"Maybe if you stopped dragging your feet, we'd find out sooner," June replied sarcastically while toying with the tablet Donelle had lying on the nightstand, "You know you shouldn't keep your PSD out like this. Wouldn't want the thieves in this dorm to catch wind of your technology and steal it,"
Donelle spit the toothpaste out and replied "They wouldn't dare try," which made June smile. After Donelle was promoted to Unit Leader, she had the option to move into a special dormitory of her own, which had her own bed, desk, and space. However, Donelle couldn't sleep in a quiet room by herself. The hustle and bustle of the dormitory were one of her only comforts. It didn't give her time to think about the past, and it also made her a better sleeper when the nightmares didn't get to her. Of course, having her own bathroom would be nice, but having good mental health was a lot more important to her in a way. Though she wouldn't have to worry about the bathroom. The more squad leaders that transferred or got promoted, the more likely she would have to move out of the squad leader dorm to make space.
