*Mario's House-Luigi's Room*

It's been a week since I had that strange dream. Even so, I can remember every second of it as though it were happening right now. Being surrounded by darkness, hearing my double say some very deep-cutting but true words, having it turn into a huge monster and attempting to kill me, then summoning yet another huge monster to do battle with it! The events were so fantastical, I could hardly believe it was a dream considering that the life I lead is already pretty crazy. "Narcissus...the Root of Conceit..." I am slightly startled by the sound of speaking, as I had not even realized that the words were coming from my own mouth. "Heh...that dream must've affected me more than I thought!" Laughing it off, I couldn't deny that those were my true feelings.

Shaking my head, I stand up from my position on my bed to survey the room. My room is pretty average. A desk cluttered with pictures of me and Mario, A small nightstand next to my bed with a clock and a mushroom-designed lamp on it (In green of course), and a large T.V. are the few things I decided to keep in the house after I moved out to live in my small mansion. That is a story for another time though. The reason I was back here at all was-

*KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK!*

"Oh for the love of...can't a guy get peace is his...er...his bro's own home!?" I yell out to whoever may have heard me. Changing out of my PJ's and into my usual attire, I come downstairs and open the front door to be greeted by a mob of news reporters. "Mr. Luigi, may we have a moment of your time?" *CLICK!* "Mr. Luigi, is it true that you envy your older brother's success in life?" "Mr. Luigi, were you around the night that Mario was abducted!?" *CLICK! CLICK!* "Mr. Luigi!" "Mr. Luigi!!"

I am slowly losing my patience, and grip the doorframe to make sure that I don't embarass myself on national television. Taking a breath, I gather my bearings to respond with the iciest glare I could manage. "I've told you all multiple times already that I am just as in the dark as you are about Mario's disappearance, and have no information to disclose. Now please leave my property before I call the authorities." Each reporter shuts up and looks away from my glare, intimidated. I feel bad about it, and relax my gaze slightly as they all proceed to leave the area. Sighing, I close the door and slump against it. (Bro...where did you go?...) With my head buried between my kness, I begin to contemplate the last time I saw him, after we had eaten the cake from Peach...

*Last Week- Toad Town Outskirts (Night)*

" Oh man Luigi! That-a cake was so-a good!!! We should've brought-a some of it back-a with us!!" Mario whines while rubbing his belly in frustration. "Bro, we were going to, but you ate the rest of it before we left..." I respond with a deadpan glare. Around us, the forest on the outskirts of Toad Town glistens in the raindrops left over from the storm. It would be almost beautiful if Mario's voice didn't shatter the silence. "Hey Luigi..." he says, his voice becoming solemn. "Y-yeah Mario? What's up?" (Woah, what's with the mood change? Is it something I said?) He moves in front of me and stops walking to turn and face me. He's only this serious when we are about to enter Bowser's lair, or if we get into a life-threatening situation.

"I wanted to ask-a you about that dream you mentioned earlier. The one with-a the blue butterfly?" I tensed up, wondering exactly which details to leave out so that I didn't sound crazy. I opted to lie about it. "W-well um...it was a dream I had after getting knocked out by a branch you know? I don't actually remember much!" I took off my hat to scratch my hair to seem more convincing. "Hmm...well okie-dokie! I was-a kinda worried there for a second! Just checking to see if-a you had any damage!" Mario laughs and resumes his walk. I follow at a slower pace. (What was that all about?...) "Hey Luigi!" Mario calls back. "Yeah bro?" I respond while jogging to catch up. "You know I love you, alright?" That caught me off guard. His accent disappeared again... what was going on? "Of course bro! You too!" He releases a sigh as if he'd been dreading the answer. We 've walked to the intersection between the roads on which my house, and Mario's house lie. "Alrighty Weegie! See you when I see you!" Mario waves and proceeds off down his block. I give a wave back and go on my own way feeling unsure all the while...
