18. home is where the heartless

Y/N sighs, and nods, "Don't die either Tetsuro."


Y/N walks past the gate, duffle bag in hand and glove-less. Alone and in search of peace.


Kuroo watches her figure disappear past the gate, which eventually closes.
When it does he sighs shaking his head, "I feel like we just made a really bad mistake by letting her go...."

Y/N walks.

She walks and walks and walks and walks and walks and walks.

She walks on the side of what seems to be an old highway.

She does not know for how long she is walking.

She does not know where she is walking.

But still, she walks.

Walking on the side of the old highway, vines growing on the ground and empty cars with broken windows.

Y/N thinks that she might walk to the next town, or perhaps walk until the sun starts to set.

She hums a soft tune to herself and then remembers the old walkman that she was given. She unzips her duffel bag and takes it out, putting one headphone in her ear, and then gazes at the label on it.

"For Y/N - From Akaashi."

The tape has a lot of older songs, as tapes and walkmans weren't really a thing before the bombings and whole apocalypse thing.

"For me?", Y/N takes the odd rectangle shape thing with wires attached to it in her hands.

Akaashi nods, "Yes for you." He puts the headphones in her ears and presses the play button.

"Why do you build me up

Y/N jumped slightly, not expecting the sound to start playing in her ears, but the more she listened, the more she fell in love with the feeling of the music playing.

Akaashi pauses it, "What do you think?

Y/N smiles softly, "I like it. Where did you find this... uhm, thing."

Akaashi chuckles, "It's a walkman, and you're listening through headphones," he points to the things in her ears. 

Y/N makes an 'O' shape with her mouth and takes them out of her ears to better hear him.

"I found a bunch of old cassettes like these and this old walkman on a scavenge, this one is my favorite so... I figured you'd like to listen since... Anyhow, I hope you enjoy the music. It's a mix of a lot of different stuff."
