Wannabe Death Note

Zaph's body shivers as the chilly air drys the remaining water off her frame. She lands on the roof of an abandoned castle; one that seems to have not been used in millennia. She folds her wings gently down beside her, the feathers soft against her arms.

There is, what seems to be, a small graveyard with vines creeping up the tombstones. Zaph crawls down onto the ground where the burial sites are and investigates the names carved on the plaques. She walks over to the closest grave and realizes there's a small, feeble figure crouching behind it. Zaph assumes it's a ghost and gets out her salt sack, dreading it got destroyed in her flying incident earlier that day.

She takes out some salt, telekinetically, and creeps over to the figure. It jumps at the sound of her boots snapping a twig and instantly disappears. "Son of a-" Zaph starts to say, but something catches her eye. She sees, what she thinks is, the same ghost stooping like damn Death Note on a gravestone a few yards away. Zaph rolls her eyes and throws a ring of salt around the shaped rock.

The ghost hisses at her and jumps down from it. It tries to cross the salt circle but instantly recoils as its body touches the salt. "What- what is this?" the ghost asks in a scratchy, shrill voice. "It's salt," Zaph says plainly. The ghost stares at her. "What you've never had french fries?" It keeps staring.

She rolls her eyes again. "Ok, who are you, why are you here, and- when did you die?" The ghost takes a deep dramatic breath. "Jesus Christ," she says under her breath. "My name is Elton Morrison, I am here because I have claimed this sacred space," it gestures before the landscape. "and I died in 1674."

I guess you wouldn't know what french fries were then. She was about to say "Seriously dude, you missed out on the fries" when a blunt object whacks against the back of her head. Everything goes black.
