Once upon a time in Storyville, Little Red Riding Hood was helping Grandmother make cookies to sell in Grandmother's shop. Although Red loved Grandmother's house and Storyville, she dreamed of one day traveling around the world, meeting new people, and most of all what was beyond the forest where she met the wolf.
Red had told Grandmother about her dream, but she had told her that she was too young to venture anywhere outside of Storyville, especially after what happened with that mean wolf. However, Little Red did not listen to Grandmother.
She decided that she would at least venture outside of the forest where she had encountered the wolf. Although, she couldn't go into those woods alone, so she came up with a plan: The next day, she would go to the Three Bears' house and get Little Bear to come with her so that she would have someone to scare off that pesky wolf if need be. And she did just that.
And so, the next day, Red went to the Three Bears' house and convinced Little Beat to come along and see what might be beyond the forest. So with Little Bear by her side and her red hood, they were set.
The forest was as Red had remembered, but not as dark and cold since it was mid-day and very sunny. But about halfway through the forest, Red had realized that they were lost. She had been day dreaming about what was beyond the forest, and she wasn't paying attention to where she was going. And by the look on Little Bear's face, he was daydreaming too and just followed Red since she had been in the forest before.
They heard howling in the distance and soon became scared and panicky. They tried to see if they could find a house or a light they could go to. Just then, Red could smell cookies baking in an oven. She ran toward the smell like a hound dog, with Little Bear struggling to keep up.
They ended up at Grandmother's house Grandmother was on the porch looking worried. Red ran into Grandmother's arms and said, "I'll never go into that forest again until I'm older like you said."
Grandmother squeezed Red then went into the house for a moment. She came back out with a bag of freshly baked cookies. She handed the cookies to Little Bear he thanked her and headed back home.
Red regretted that she didn't take Grandmother's advice earlier, and knew that there was no place like Grandmother's house.
