he's in the rain

the moonlight on his face caught my eye,

him standing there watching the cars pass as the clouds cry

i could offer my umbrella to him as i pass by,

when i look at him i can't help but wonder why?

why was this beautiful stranger in the rain all alone,

i feel like maybe that's better left unknown

is that rain on his face or tears rolling down,

tears seem more plausible as he looks like he might drown 

i leave my umbrella by his side,

walking around him we almost collide

he looks my way for an instant i see the pain in his face,

when i turn around to look at him again he's gone without a trace
