I feel a pair of lips kiss my forehead, lingering there for a second before the feeling leaves. The warmth from underneath me leaves, and I'm left feeling cold. The hospital blanket is laid over my body, keeping most of the cold out. Someone mumbles something before leaving the room, the door making a small click.

"Baby, wake up," someone says, shaking me awake.

My eyes flutter open before quickly shutting again when the light hits my eyes. Slowly my eyes open again, allowing them to adjust to the light. After squinting, trying to get my eyes to adjust, they do, and I scan the room finding Nathan standing beside my bed. His hands sit in the pocket of his jeans, his blonde hair is messily pushed back, and his baby blue eyes stare at me with a soft look to them.

"Hi, Nate," I breathe out.

"Hey, beautiful, I'm so glad you're awake. I missed you."

Something moves behind Nathan, causing my eyes to dart in that direction only to find my brother standing there.

"Alex!" I exclaim, immediately regretting it.

I start coughing. Grabbing the water, Jonah had kindly moved closer to my bed. I take a sip calming myself down.

Alex's chuckle fills the room."Hey, my little sis," he smiles brightly.

Nathan watches the interaction with an unreadable expression. I raise my eyebrows at him, expecting some sort of answer. He shakes his head a little and smiles. What the hell was that about?

"Thank you for coming to see me. I needed to see some familiar faces."

"There's no place I'd rather be," Nathan states.

"I wouldn't miss seeing my sister again for the world."

I missed seeing their faces, Alex's hair was longer than it usually is, but it stayed the same brown it had always been. His brown eyes are still full of life. Nathan looked good. His chest and biceps looked more toned and muscular since the last time I had seen him.

"I love you, Nathan. I'm sorry I didn't stay awake," I sniffle, remembering the words Nathan said to me.

"It's okay, Peyton, you're okay now," he reminds me.

"I'm going to go get coffee and allow you both to talk for a while. I'll see you later, P," Alex smiles, kissing my forehead before leaving.

The door shuts with a click. Silence fills the room, neither one of us knowing what to say. The quiet is overbearing. It leaves me with my thoughts. I feel my eyes gloss over, tears threatening to fall.

"How bad did you get hurt?" I quietly ask, unsure if he would've even heard me.

"I managed to get out of the accident with cuts and bruises," he replies lowly.

I let out a sigh of relief, knowing he wasn't badly injured. I don't know what I would do if I found out he was badly injured because of that reckless driver. What ended up happening to the driver? I wonder. Did the driver get injured? Did they get charged for what they did?

"What happened after I blacked out?" I cautiously ask.

"I panicked, called 911 straight away, I did as they asked, checked for a pulse, checked your breathing, tried to wake you up. I was a mess, Peyton. I thought I lost you the second you closed your eyes. The paramedics arrived not too long after. They got you out of the car and onto a stretcher rolling you into the back of an ambulance. They tried to take you away, but I insisted to go with you. I told them I was fine, and they could check me out at the hospital when I was sitting in a chair next to you." He recalled.

His eyes showed how vulnerable he was just from recalling the day of the accident. That day will forever haunt both of us.

"I'm so sorry, Nate," I whisper, "I'm so fucking sorry."

The tears which were once welled up in my eyes are now pouring down my face like a waterfall. Nathan's head hung low, soft cries left his mouth. Nathan rarely cried, and when he did, it broke my heart.

"Don't you dare apologise," he shakes his head, "What happened is not your fault."

His words replayed in my mind over and over again while sobs continued to leave my mouth. Before I could process what was happening, Nathan's arms wrap around my small, fragile body pulling it to his chest. I let out a soft whimper, still sore from everything that's happened.

"I love you, Peyton. You are my forever," he mumbles into my hair.

We stayed like this for a while. Neither of us wanting to move, neither of us wanting to let go. My tears had slowly stopped, and my breathing was steady again. Nathan had moved his head from my hair to the crook of my neck, breathing in my scent. His breathing had calmed, and his hands have slowly stopped caressing my arm.

"Nate?" I softly ask.

I get nothing in reply.

"Nathan, baby?" I try again, shaking him softly.

a small groan makes his chest rumble before he jumps up, looking me over. "Did I hurt you? Shit, I'm sorry I didn't mean to hurt you. I didn't even mean to fall asleep," Nate rambles.

"Hey hey, shh, you didn't hurt me. I woke you up so you could get up on the bed and sleep comfortably."

Nathan gives me a sleepy smile moving onto the hospital bed. Laying half on me, half on the bed, while his head snuggles back into the crook of my neck. I bit back a cry, he on a spot that is bruised and sore. I ignore the feeling, running my hand through his blonde hair, messing it up more than it had already been. A sigh of content leaves Nates lips as his body relaxing and his breathing steadies.

There was a soft knock on the door before Jonah pops his head around the door. His eyes travel over the scene displayed in front of him. A look I haven't seen before spreads over his once soft features. His eyes dart from Nathan to mine before he sticks his hand through the doorway and waves.

"Look who decided to show up," he mumbles. "It was nice meeting you. I'll see you around, I guess."

A feeling of disappointment settles in my stomach, but I quickly push it away. Why should I be disappointed?
