Today is the day, the day I start attending my dream university. I piled my boxes into my car, checking over them to make sure nothing is left behind. I don't know how my parents will handle not having any kids in the house, they've always had someone to keep them company, but now I'm leaving too, they'll have no one. Alex and I say our goodbyes to Liv and Dylan who said they would stay home while our parents drove to the university to watch their baby girl start university.

Alex left first, leading the way, I followed closely behind while our parents made their way behind me. I was nervous but full of excitement at the same time. I had managed to leave early this morning to say goodbye to Nathan, informing him about starting college. Though Nathan is still in a coma, I just know that he is happy that I chose to go today and not stay home waiting for him.

'Best part of me' by Ed Sheeran ft. YEBBA plays on the radio, one of mine and Nathan's favourite songs. I smile to myself as Nathan's tone-deaf voice fills my ears, singing 'his' parts of the song. Even though he isn't here to hear me, I sing my parts of the song, harmonizing with it. The song soon ends, and my smile falters slightly, remembering he isn't in the car with me.

The hour-long drive goes by quickly, before I know it, I'm parking. I can't believe I'm here, I've finally made it to my dream school. I open the door stepping out, taking in my surroundings.

"Wow," I breathe out.

Alex chuckles, walking over to me, "I had the same reaction, it's amazing, isn't it?" He smiles up at the university.

"It looks so much better than the pictures," I say, still amazed at the sight.

"C'mon, let's go find your dorm," My dad says, carrying a box.

I nod, grabbing a box from the trunk of my car. I look at the piece of paper with my dorm number on it, 1172. After walking around for a while, we find my dorm. The door was unlocked, so we opened the door looking around the not so big room, my eye's landing on a girl sorting through some stuff on a bed.

"Hey! you must be my roommate, I'm Layla," She smiles, hugging me.

So Layla's a hugger, right, got it.

"I'm Peyton, this is Alex, my brother, he's sophomore here, that's my mum, and my dad," I say, introducing everyone.

After talking for a minute, I place my stuff down near my near bed and closet. A few trips later, all my stuff is in my dorm. Alex and I walk our parents down to their car, where we say our final goodbyes.

"Bye, my baby, have fun," mum softy cries as she hugs me.

"Bye mum, I will don't worry, I message you later," I assure her, pulling away from her hug.

"Bye, sweetheart," dad says, placing a kiss on the top of my head before moving away.

Alex says his goodbyes before we watch them drive off.

"Meet me down here in an hour, I'm going to give you a tour."

Not giving me a chance to reply, he runs off to which I'm guessing is where his dorm is. I sigh, making my way back to my dorm. Layla was no longer inside the room, but she did leave a note saying she would be back by tonight. I grab a box, slicing it open with my keys, unpacking the continents inside. I managed to unpack 99% of my stuff, placing it neatly where it should go.

I grab my phone off its charger and head back down to where Alex said to meet him. As I'm walking down the hall I hear a group of boys laughing, I turn my head looking at them quickly, one of them looks familiar... no.. there's no way that's him, it can't be. I only got a glimpse, but it looked like Jonah.

Not wanting to keep Alex waiting, I continue to walk past them. I find Alex waiting exactly where he said he would, he was looking down at his phone, tapping his foot quietly to himself as he waited.

"Don't look so bored," I chuckle.

Alex looks up with a playful grin on his face, "Took you long enough."

"My apologies," I playfully grin.

Alex starts walking, leaving me standing there confused, where is he going? I thought he was showing me around.

"Are you coming?" Alex stops turning around.

"Yeah, sorry!" I laugh, running over to him.

Alex shows me around campus, explaining things as he goes. It's a lot to take in, but I manage to remember everything, by the time we're finished, it's getting dark, and I'm hungry.

"I know this place not too far from here if you're up to getting dinner with me?" Alex asks, walking us over to the campus car park.

"Fuck yes, are you kidding me? I'm so hungry."

Alex drives us to this diner not far from campus, It's a cute diner, black and white tiled floor, red chair booths, families, old people, couples, and college students fill the booths. I can see myself sitting in here with friends laughing away as we wait for our food. I hope that Nathan is sitting with us some of his friends as well all of us as one big family.

"Hey, what can I get you?" a deep male voice asks.

I look up at our waiter he was young but older than both Alex and I. He had light brown hair parted in the middle, his eyes a beautiful grey colour, he was tall, at least he is to me, he would be around 5'10.

"Can I just get a cheeseburger with a side of chips?" Alex asks.

"And for the beautiful lady?" he asks, making my cheeks redden.

"Just the same as him, please" I smile up at him.

The waiter nods then proceed to walk off over the counter, he looks back over, looking at me again, winking. Nathan would've gotten mad at him for flirting with me, but Nathan isn't here, and he isn't mad.
