Untamable

Chapter 3

When they reached the carriage and got on the road Levi inquired about Eren's day. He wondered what made Eren want to come with him so badly.

"O-oh, well um.."

"What? Do you have a girlfriend or something you're embarrassed about? Tch, damn kids. How annoying."

"No! That's not it sir! I-I was just surprised you were interested in my personal life, that's all. And no, I don't have a girlfriend."

"It's my job to know your personal life Jaeger. Who you interact with, where you're interacting, everything to the smallest detail. You should know this by now."

"G-gomen nasai." Eren scratched the back of his head as they settled into an uncomfortable silence not knowing what to say until Levi sighed and broke it.

"And, I was also wondering what made you want to come here so badly you'd risk your neck for it. So..." Levi gestured to Eren for him to continue the conversation to which he accepted gratefully.

"Well, when I first got there I met with Armin and Mikasa. It was nice since we haven't seen each other in a while. After that we left the mess hall and I told them a little bit about the experiments we were doing. Not in detail of course, but they did laugh at me for turning into a titan to pick up that spoon."

"Heh, serves you right for doing something like dumb like that."

"Aw come on Heichou, not you too."

"Shut up, I'm your Captain. I can make fun of you when I want." Eren continued talking throughout the entire trip back to the inn. Every once in a while Levi would make a sarcastic remark or a comment about Eren's friends but Eren never took it to heart. He enjoyed talking to Levi and got to see a calmer side of him he never knew was there. He began to see him as more of a person rather than just Levi Heichou, Humanity's strongest. The time seemed to fly by so fast, Eren was a little disappointed to get back to the inn. When the two arrived at the room, Levi went to shower first. Finishing quickly, he notified Eren it was his turn.

Eren turned on the water and, after it was heated, stepped in the warm water. He sighed in relief, feeling the troubles of today dripping off of his body along with the running water. I wonder what Levi Heichou and Erwin Danchou were talking about during the meeting. I'll ask Levi Heichou about it tomorrow. After finishing his shower, Eren dried off, dressed, and headed back to the room he and Levi shared. He opened the door to see Levi making a makeshift bed on the couch for Eren. "Hmm, you're back.

"You sound surprised that I came back, Heichou."

"I am. Knowing you, you could've fallen asleep in there and stayed for who knows how long."

"Oi! I'm not that childish! I only fell asleep by accident one time." Eren crossed his arms and pouted. How childish does he think I am?!...It only happened once.

"Really? I could've sworn you fell asleep in the bathroom a second time. It was either that or you were taking a hell of a long shit in there." Eren's face flushed in embarrassment as he covered his face. He didn't want to confirm either option since they were equivalent in shame.

"You're really cruel Heichou." Levi looked at the clock and was reminded about their early travels tomorrow. He then got up and walked to the bed where he was sitting. "Hey! What the hell was that for?!" Levi had hit Eren's nose with a rolled up packet of paper. "I'm not a dog you know."

"It's lights out for you brat. We've got an early day tomorrow and I have some paperwork to fill out for my next report. I'll be back later, and when I do you'd better be asleep. You're still young and sleep deprivation is bad for morale."
