The two women had been sat in the nail salon for over an hour as they had their nails painted and feet massaged. It felt nice, both women hadn't had girl time like this together in a few years and Donna was actually glad she gave in to having Bella take her out like this. Donna Winston had grown used to Belladonnas demanding ways. Sure, at times it annoyed the shit out of her because not a single person could ever win an argument against Belladonna Jones, but that's just the type of person Bella was. She wanted to do everything for everyone, and Donna was no exception. The two old friends spoke about absolutely everything. It was unusual for something to go unspoken about between the two, even if they weren't in each other's company. They spoke on the phone daily when Belladonna was in New York, no amount of distance straining the close friendship the two women shared. Today however, the topic of discussion was focused on Donnas husband, Harry 'Opie' Winston and his upcoming release from Chino.
"How are you feeling about Ope and his release date, Don? It's soon, right?" Bella questioned as she turned to look at her friend, whose feet were currently being massaged.
"Majority of me is feeling relieved, but a tiny part of me is scared. He keeps telling me he's gonna earn straight, but I can't help but think he's just making empty promises." Belladonna hadn't seen Opie in over two years. The last time she saw him was when she went to visit him in Chino, where she gave him an earful about getting his priorities and shit straight before shedding a few tears. Opie Winston had been a big part of Belladonnas life since she was young girl, with four years between them, Opie had been the older brother Belladonna had only ever wished she had. He meant a lot to her, but so did Donna. So it was difficult to watch the couple go through the ups and down of their marriage, but Bella knew they'd always find a way to make shit work.
"If Ope says he's gonna try and earn straight then you've got to give him some credit, D. It's not easy getting out of the club, I'd know that better then anyone. Have a little faith, at least he's trying I suppose." Belladonna offered in support, knowing there wasn't much she could say that would ease her best friends worries.
"Your father was a good man, Bell." Donna acknowledged with a small smile, which Bella returned a pointed look to. "So is Opie, Don. Now try and relax a little. That foot massage wasn't free."
Thirty minutes later and both women had made their way back to Bella's rental car with freshly painted nails. "Thank you for this, B." Donna spoke as she slid into the passenger seat, only to earn a small frown from her blonde friend. "You don't need to thank me, D. It's my duty as your best friend to make sure you're well looked after and I certainly don't need a dick to do so. You deserve to feel like a beautiful women everyday, not a fucking house maid." Bella muttered the last part as she turned the cars ignition on and pulled away from the curb, making the short journey across town, towards the kids school.
"The kids are going to be over the moon when they see you, they ask about you at least once everyday." Donna spoke as she watched the passing houses through the window, full of the happy families she'd always envied.
"It's nice to be wanted by someone for once," the young women joked as she pulled up outside the schools kiss and drop zone, where many other parents stood waiting- some turning their attention in the direction of the sleek, black performance car that had pulled up besides them, confused at what kind of person owned a car like that. "I forgot how fucking nosy people in this town were." Belladonna huffed, hoisting herself up on the front of the car as Donna leaned up against it besides her. "Welcome to my world, B," Donna started before turning towards her friend with a shit eating grin. "Probably doesn't help that you're driving a seventy-thousand dollar car, you obnoxious bitch."
"Don't hate the lifestyle baby, just enjoy the ride." Belladonna smirked, sending a wink Donnas way as she lowered her sunglasses over her eyes before turning her attention back towards the front gates of Charming Elementary School. The pair began chuckling at the banter they shared, when they were suddenly interrupted by the dismissal bell. Kids began exiting the school in all directions, cheering happily as school ended for the day.
