Flashback:

It was a month after the Second Giant war. Percy still could not bring himself to move on. His Wise Girl had died during the war. She had been killed by Gaea herself in all her Dirt glory. In his rage, he single handedly killed Gaea. He had made the shroud himself with help from Malcolm -   Annabeth's half-brother - for the design. He had helped make all their shrouds. Jason. Piper. Leo. Frank. Hazel. All of them dead. After he killed Gaea, he was brought to Olympus. Zeus had surprisingly for once had given the demigods the credit for the war and had said that it was a bad decision to close Olympus. He had granted the Camp counselors of Camp Half-Blood -except Percy- partial immortality so that they could teach the younger generations. This reward was given to the senators as well. Reyna had recieved partial immortality too. Then came Percy's turn.

The gods had offered to make him a member of the Olympian Council. Percy was surprised that they had even considered it. After all he had already declined immortlaity once. The conversation began like this:

"Percy Jackson" boomed the voice of Zeus. What little noise was in the throne room was immediately silenced as Percy made his way to the centre of the Throne Room out of respect for Zeus and Percy. Of course "room" didn't really cover it. It was the size of Madison Square Garden and made The Grand Central Station look like a broom closet.

"We the Gods of Olympus offer you immortality for the second time as well as an offer to become a member of the Olympian Council." Zeus said this in a I-already-know-you-are-going-to-decline-but-this-is-a-formality voice.

The Romans were mainly focused on the "second time" part. All of the Romans -even Reyna- were looking at Percy shell-shocked. They had never known that Percy had been offered immortality once before.

Percy had politely declined again. This had made some of the gods mad. But then Percy revealed why he wanted to remain a mortal. He had said that he would like to honour his fallen friends and comrades-in-arms by remaining a mortal and dying when it was his time.

He had asked for two wishes instead. The first had been to give Hades and Hestia Thrones on Olympus. Zeus didn't even protest. Immediately two thrones erupted from the floor. One was divided into 3 parts. The first was scenes of torture. The second was spirits wandering around aimlessly. The third was like a party hall. Everyone was enjoying. Percy knew immediately that this was Hades' throne. It represented the 3 places spirits could go to. Fields of Punishment, Fields of Asphodel, and Elysium.

The second throne was a simple wooden throne. On the armrest, where the wrists would rest were 2 small circles of fire. It reminded everyone of their homes. This throne was Hestia's.

Hades sent a look of gratitude towards Percy and Hestia hugged him. His second wish was to unite the two camps with a portal. Zeus swore on the River Styx that he would ask Hecate to help him with it.

Percy was about to go back when he heard his name being called. It was Hestia.

"I would like for you to become my Champion" she had said. Everyone was switching between looking at Percy and Hestia -even the gods- as Hestia had never had a Champion before in her immortal life.

Before Percy could respond Zeus proposed his brilliant idea. "I would like you, Perseus, to become the Champion of Olympus."

Percy had asked him if he was sure about 20 times when Zeus said that he was absolutely sure and that he knew that he would never abuse that power.

And so Percy became the Champion of Olympus - though rather reluctantly.

And so after Percy made Annabeth's shroud, he went to rest in his cabin.

Time Skip 6 Months-

Percy couldn't bear to live with the memories of his friends and comrades. They were happily enjoying Elysium while he was still stuck in the past and the good times they had. Life had changed drastically for Percy after becoming the Champion of Olympus. He still stayed at camp and helped trained the next generation. The younger campers revered him and put him on a pedestal while the older campers constantly praised his deeds. Percy scoffed. Such deeds that he couldn't even save his friends. There was a wee tiny bit problem however.

Nico wouldn't even talk to him after the war had ended. Then one day he suddenly came to his cabin and screamed about how he had finally gained a sister in Hazel and a friend in Jason after so much hard work and proving that he wasn't an outcast and how it was all Percy's fault for not saving them and letting them be killed. He had already lost Bianca and now Hazel had gone too. All because of Percy.

Thalia was arguably even worse. She had lost a lot of her hunter-sisters in the final battle that ended the war. She had also just found out that Jason was alive after believing him to be dead for more than a decade. She hadn't even talked to Jason much even after both reconciled. And now he was dead and his girlfriend was dead too. Thalia had liked Piper a lot. She showed that not all Aphrodite girls were all about their looks. Then had come her strongest point. Annabeth was practically a sister in all but blood. She was the sole bond remaining after Luke had betrayed her and now she was gone too. All because Percy wasn't strong enough. She made sure to emphasize her point by slapping and electrocuting him numerous times whenever the hunters came to the camp.

And Percy didn't even defend himself. Honestly, what could he say? He still believed that if he had been strong enough, he could have saved them all. They didn't need to remind him. He still blamed himself for all the deaths. Athena had been right. His fatal flaw was destroying him in the end. He felt as though he were just a burden on everyone. All because of him, his loved ones were in constant danger.

And just when he was at his lowest, help came in the form of the Gods of Olympus.
