Chapter Three

Louis wasn't nervous; this wasn't anxiety.

It was nerves, really, and the lack of sleep that he'd had due to his busy schedule.

Let alone to say, that was exactly why Louis waited until exactly 2:58 pm to step out of his car and walk into the little cake shop. He wanted to be promptly on time, and even though there had been no need to make an appointment (another unprofessional sign, Louis thought), Louis still liked to be punctual.

No matter how unprofessional the man already seemed to him, Louis was keen on making a satisfactory impression. He meant business and Louis wanted this baker to know that this wedding was serious. Louis was overseeing every matter, every minute detail that involved the wedding, so if this guy screwed up..... God, Louis hoped that he wouldn't. He really wasn't in the mood to deal with insignificant mistakes, even if this guy was supposedly, Kamie's "friend". He still wasn't so sure about the lad.

For one, Louis didn't know a damn thing about who this man was, except for the fact that he made cakes for a living. Louis understood that this baker was Kamie's friend and she liked him and they were friends and yada yada, but this was strictly business. They needed to hire an actual professional to create Kamie's dream cake. No offense to the man but, Louis highly doubted the lad went to school for bakery, let alone spent his life studying the art of baking cakes. Louis didn't even know how long the man had been baking for. This was valuable information he needed to know and despite Kamie's reassurances, Louis just didn't trust the man. There was a wedding at stake here, and Louis would be dammed if anything went wrong, especially concerning the wedding cake. Not only would that reek havoc on the wedding day, it would also put a dampener on Louis's credibility. His job was on the line here too. So, for precautionary sake, he booked a seperate appointment at another renowned cake shop called, Patisserie Val.

"Just in case." Louis muttered to himself as he stowed away his iPad in his messenger bag, opting to bring it with him.

Stepping out of his Coop, Louis balanced his Latte and his pen as he slammed the door behind him with his hip and locked the vehicle. Better to multitask than to waste a few minutes doing things one at a time, he figured.

Louis squinted, slightly confuddled as he gazed up, struggling to peer at the small cake shop from underneath the bright sun.

If it weren't for the logo plastered to the window, Louis honestly wouldn't know that this was the cake shop Kamie had been ranting about at all. There was no arriving sign of any kind or decoration. It was a simple shop with a simple glass window, a cake logo on the glass. Swirled pink words reading 'Harry's' curled around the animated cake and it separated the outside from the small enclosed space displaying a few nicely decorated cakes (to Louis's dismay). Sure the cakes were nice, but the outside remained much to be desired, and Louis was still unimpressed.

"Well, it isn't much to look at." Louis spoke aloud, dropping the hand that had been previously shielding his face. He attempted to remind himself that this was Kamie's friend. Therefore, that was the only reason he was doing this.

Huffing out an exasperated breath and struggling to remind himself that he was doing this for Kamie (although that notion was fading fast), Louis opened the front door and sauntered inside.

"Fucking hell." Louis cursed, shivering at the biting cold that chilled him when he stepped inside the bakery.

There was absolutely no reason for any room to be this cold. Annoyed, Louis glared around, searching for the supposed "baker" he was scheduled to speak with. But the man was nowhere in sight and Louis was pissed as fuck.
