Emily’s POV:

1/5 of one direction is standing in my house and I am not freaking out? What is wrong with me? Today felt different. “Awh look at you two” Gemma said snapping Harry and I out of a daze. “I just um gotta go” I said frantically trying to find words to say. I took off running up the staircase and into my room. What was I doing?, I thought. I am making such a fool of myself! My mind was spinning with multiple thoughts as my bedroom door flung open.

“Emily do not mess this up for me! Do you understand?” my mother whisper yelled. “Go down there and don’t make me look bad.” She hissed. I slowly got off my bed and started to walk towards my door when she yanked my arm back and threw me down to the ground. She stared at my helpless body grinning with pleasure. “Now Emily don’t mess this up.” She said before exiting the room. I groaned with pain knowing that I had hit my bruised hip on the hard tile floor.

I slowly pulled myself up and shook off the pain before putting on my famous fake smile and descending the stairs. I joined my mother and our new famous neighbors at the dinner table. “Are you okay love” Harry asked with a slight frown to his face. “Just peachy” I quietly responded. “Well Emily tell us about yourself.” Anne said with an encouraging smile. “Well,” I started but was rudely cut off by my mother. “Emily is a very lazy child that never works hard, she just sits around all day. Now let’s not talk about Emily’s failures, let’s talk about your successful children. Emily take some notes.” My mother said. My smile faded as my mother rudely interrupted me. She always does this to me. I am just a lazy girl who does nothing and everyone else is perfect. I sigh knowing that Harry and Gemma will want nothing to do with me since I am a failure. “May I be excused?” I asked politely. “Emily, show some respect! We have guests over! Why are you so rude to other people?” my mother firmly stated. I shifted my view to the floor for the rest of dinner while the perfect people continued their discussions. Why couldn’t I be perfect like everyone else?, I thought.

Harry’s POV:

When Emily’s mother scurried upstairs I heard a loud thud followed by a squeak. Did someone fall? I hope they are okay!

“Are you okay?” my mother asked as soon as Emily’s mother appeared at the top of the staircase. “Oh yeah I am fine! Emily just slipped on her carpet, but she is fine.  Sometimes she can be a little clumsy!” Emily’s mother responded with a small laugh. I smirked at the fact that she was a little clumsy. I find that adorable, wait what did I just say? Harry you just met the girl. I shook all my thoughts out of my head as I followed my mother and Gemma to the dining room.  Around five seconds later Emily appeared in the dining room with a distressed look. “Are you okay love?” I asked. “Just peachy” she whispered. What was up with her? I watched her expression lighten up as my mother asked her a question. She was so beautiful. Her gorgeous smile started descending into a frown as her mother rudely cut her off.  Something wasn’t right here. Emily doesn’t seem lazy. Maybe she just made her mom mad. That was probably it. I stared at her for the rest of dinner hoping that she would shift her view to the table instead of the floor, but instead her view stayed glued to the marbled floor.

There was something about this girl that mad me wonder. She had a secret, I just have to figure it out...
