I wake up the next day feeling great for a change. I'm completely in a "seize the moment" attitude and I have to take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime event. I don't even sit it bed thinking for all that long, my eyes just open and I'm awake. I don't feel like I need coffee for a change, it's almost strange.
I change clothes and brush my teeth and put a bit of mascara on before going downstairs with a skip in my step to eat.
My luck!
I got downstairs hugged and kissed my brother and couldn't even hold in my smile, my mom made pancakes! I do love pancakes, they are the perfect morning meal that you can add almost anything to, but I also had a deadline for when I have to go to school, so I eat fast and am out the door with my mama.
I get to school and have a great time in LA because the teacher was reading allowed in class and the home work was just to read more of the book. The best part is that I don't even have to pay attention because I've already finished the book.
Ceramics is an even better class because my teacher is the best and there is never homework, we just play with clay all class and talk, excluding those days where the teacher actually does have to teach and give homework, but today wasn't one of those days.
Ceramics ended, and finally we got back to my favorite class: science. Mx. Carter was talking more about cells today after attendance and then they assigned a worksheet to work on with our table partner until the end of class.
Me and the boy next to me were still were awkward with each other for a few reasons; one being I didn't even know his name, and another being he knew mine.
"Sitting next to a girl is a boy who knows the girls name, but the girl doesn't know his, strange, is it not?" I say, at least trying to make conversation while another student is passing out the papers.
"Yes that is strange, but the only reason the girl doesn't know the boys name is because she doesn't pay attention in class," the boy said, sadly, he made a good point, I can only think of one way he would know my name: morning attendance.
"Hah, you got me there," I looked out the window while we got our worksheets, when did it start raining?
"Aren't you going to ask for my name Jade?" The boy asked, I turned to look at him.
"No I don't think I will, Theo."
"Oh so the girl actually knew the boys name the whole time then?"
"No, the girl just knows how to read," I smirked a little at him and he looked down on his paper that he wrote his name on, I felt clever.
He have out a little sigh with a giggle and we went silent to read the first part of the worksheet.
Bam. Crack.
I jumped because I didn't realize how much it started raining, Theo just laughed at me from jumping. I rolled my eyes and as the thunder and lightning kept going I got light headed, I could barely read.
"Theo, I'll be back I'm going to get some water," my body started shaking and my vision got blurred, who knew I was scared that much from the rain?
"Alright, you okay?" He noticed I was shaking, and was obviously concerned but I decide to just brushed it off. I nodded and walked out of the class to get water.
I came back feeling a bit better and Theo told me he started the first few questions, so I copy everything down. I tried to tell him the answer for the next one, but before I could, my body started to get numb and I couldn't hear, I started seeing spots and I look up at Theo one last time before my head lands on the desk and I loose feeling in myself completely.
My eyes open and close and I gain a little bit of consciousness to see Theo trying to shake me awake while telling the teacher what happened, he help my hand to check my pulse and then to check my breathing, it was obvious he had been in this situation before. My eyes felt so heavy, with out my permission they shut and slightly opened again to see my mothers telling me everything is going to be alright while being wheeled into a truck that had the same logo on it as where I go to get my vaccinations. When this all started, we had to sign papers saying that they were the only people that would treat us, and because of that, we wouldn't have to handle the cost of hospital bill and such so my mothers were fine with it, it's funny, now that I think about it, we are earning money for testing out vaccines.
I shut my eyes and let myself rest, there is no use in fighting it now that I am being looked over.
This time I wake up in a hospital bed in a white room with only me inside of it. I am still gaining consciousness so I only look around seeing a camera that was focusing in on me. I tried to lift myself up but my hands were buckled down, I tried to get them of but they wouldn't budge. My feet were the same, even my neck was buckled down.
A few minutes passed and I heard a knock on the door, I didn't know what was happening so of course I didn't answer. Isabel walked in away.
"Oh dear, hello Jade! I didn't think you would be back so soon, sorry you are buckled down, we were just taking precautions because we had no idea what was happening. Let's get you up on you feet so we can check you out, just like normal," I would've thought Isabel would've been fired by now, but I guess not. Maybe they just wanted me to see a familiar face because nothing about this is normal.
I nodded, there is no use in talking right now, it doesn't even feel like I can honestly.
"Look, I know you have a lot of questions so don't be afraid to ask, we are only here to help,"
Lies.
"Jade, you really need to say something, anything, I need to make sure you're alright and don't have brain damage or anything sweetie."
I gave her a look and she just started the routine physical check anyway.
"Jade, you are going to have to stay here for a few days, we need to make sure this doesn't happen again or anything. This also means you can't see you family or friends from school," This explained the mask she was wearing. She even had gloves on and barely any skin was showing.
"Okay we are done, we are going to move you into a more comfortable room soon, here are a few book choices in the meantime, and is there anything else I can get you?" They were good books, all popular and I've read them all, but they were still good books, it was obvious I was going to be here a while because they are moving me to different room, but at least they were trying to make a effort to make me comfortable.
"Alright just holler if you need anything sweetheart, you just need to knock on the door or wave at the camera," Isabel smiled, it was so fake it made me want to smile a fake smile back, I was about to, but I didn't because alarms started to ring.
"I have to go now, enjoy the books!" She looked panicked, I wonder what was going on?
I couldn't do anything about anything so I decide to get into the bed again and sleep until this nightmare was over. Or until something interesting happened.
