To be honest, this is so far from your typical fairytale, there are no princes or knights in shining armour and while true, cliched is also not even the jist of it. Our story began six years ago when we met in high school. I am Esperanza, I had been a freshman and Lionel a Junior. Lionel's mom was teaching a summer school program and Lionel used to accompany his mom to classes in the days. We met briefly when I had been researching in the library and the only computer available was stolen by no other than the bad boy himself but all I had gathered otherwise was that he was way into Grand Theft Auto. We had became quick friends over the first few weeks. I even tried extra hard to be the top student so that I could impress not only his mom but him too.
Lionel seemed to have enjoyed joining us in the days with his mom, Mrs. Simpson. He said that he had football camp in two weeks and i hated to admit it but i was actually starting to like his company. While he would be off having fun on a field of hot sweaty guys, just kidding, he would be developing his skills at the game and I would be stuck here solving calculus problems. Great!! I mean it's not like I didn't have any other friends. Soon enough I would be rejoining my best friends Kayla, Savnnah and Arianna but let's be real, they dont have the same effect on me.
Lionel's POV
"I'm telling you man, she's this crazy smart girl that mom cant stop talking about. She's real cute though" i told my best friend Daniel.
"Dude, since you like her so much why don't you go out with her?" Daniel asked me.
"I would but she isnt really my type."
"Fine then ,hook me up, she might like me, i like a challenge either way".
Was he serious? I guess so. Hey, its not like I wanted to get involved with her. She's just a friend that i dont see like that so this should be easy, atleast I hope so.
A week later
"Dude did talk to her for me?" Daniel asked for the tenth time since this morning.
"Yeah" I said thinking back to what she said.
(Flashback)
"Hey Esperanza, can you hold up for a minute?"
"Sure Lionel, what's up?"
Man i love the way she says my name.
"I have this friend of mine, he's a really nice guy. He saw you a couple times and wanted to know if you would be interested and going out with him and stuff....""Well, tell your friend i'm flattered but there are three things. Firstly, if i am to i'd very much like it to be someone i know very well. Secondly, I might alreadly like someone so i wouldn't really be into it right now and thirdly" She hesitated.
"I'm not allowed to date until i'm 18. Sorry but thanks anyway. Gotta run, see you around"
She smiled and walked off with her friend Ariel. I didnt know what or why but i liked the fact that she actually turned him down. She likes someone, thats good. Whoever that guy is he's lucky, she's definitely different. In a good way.
(End of flashback....)
"Sorry dude, she said no, you'll find another girl"
This one's mine i thought. With that in mind i walked away. I had some thinking to do........
