So I had a heartbreak but it didn't last very long. It seemed that our friendship became stronger and there was hardly any tension between us over the breakup. We had given each other space in the second semester but it didnt last very long as before, I saw him everywhere. We reconnected and I had even became his biggest fan in basketball and soccer that he played. I had even invented a word for just it, a combination from cheerleader and groupie. You guys might know another time though.
So while we focused on school we were both friends but also decided that was probably for the best that way. He went on to keeping his player repuatation and of course it wasn't long before he had a new girlfriend. For me though I was yet to move on so at the beginning of the third semester I decided to take a chance on the whole thing and I decided to make a move on my crush, Rafiel. He was in my Spanish and Arts class and I thought just maybe there was something between us. Besides, I couldn't be hung up on the heartbreat the rest of my life.
My dad had allowed me to go out in groups with my friends and supervised by an adult, that meant that Aunt Jenny would be coming. I didnt mind much though. I was really happy when Rafiel had decided that the following Saturday we go to see a movie which was Maleficent, we all love Angelina Jolie. Things were going good with us though we were more like great friends. This lasted for the rest of the first year though until the unfortunate day came....
Flashback
My friend Arianna and I had been the biggest fans for sports (though you wouldn't know by just looking at us) at our school and Rafiel was one of the newest members of the Junior Varsity basketball team. We had made him a cake that day in Home Economics class and gotten a card signed by all our friends and cheerleaders saying congrats. Everyone decided I should've been the one to give it to him.
We watched from a far as they practiced that afternoon and us girls secretly finished arranging everything. I then headed to the gym after practice and just as I was about to enter I heard voices and stopped. At first I was going to ask for help with the stuff in my hand but it was what I heard next that froze me on the spot.
"Come on, dude, you're so lucky, you have the hot fresh meat and won the daddy over. You really serious man"
"Dude it's not like that, who am i kidding? She's nice and all but we all know what this is about"
"Yeah, let's hear it for the man!!"
"You're a jerk you know that?"
I heard pushing and then silence.
"It beats an asshole, you know all she talked about for the first month was you, it was annoying. But hey, now I bet I'm all she thinks about. Don't worry when I win this bet, you can have her again"
That was all I heard before the person was punched. The person was Rafiel....
Even though that had hurt, and I mean ALOT, though surprised I was glad he had stood up for me. Maybe he still loved me. Maybe he was being a good friend. Maybe he wasn't such a bad person after all. Maybe there was more to Lionel.
