Small lime-green eyes fluttered open, squinting as they adjusted to the bright light of the nursery. A sand-paper tongue flicked across Rootkit's head, she squirmed. "Look Mum! Her eyes are open!" a loud and excited voice chirped. "Hush, Sunkit. She's only just woken up," a softer voice spoke, calm and collected, until another voice perked up. "Rootkits awake?" Bramblepaws sighed softly, smiling as she looked at her kittens, they were two moons old now, and Rootkit had only just opened her eyes. "Rootkit is adjusting to the sounds of you two yapping, now why dont you go find Moonkit and play moss ball?" Bramblepaws suggested, however it sounded more of a demand. Sunkit nodded cheerfully, running out the thicket and leaf den to find her friend, Tawnykit not far behind.
Bramblepaws hummed a soft sigh of content, looking down to face the resting Rootkit, eyes still squinted as she stared at her sisters leave the den. Bramblepaws smiled, leaning her head down to lap her fur once again. Rootkit whined, annoyed at the constant cleaning from her mother. Rootkit's eyes followed her sisters, her tail swayed, her squinted eyes no longer, she stared after her sisters.
Amberclaw stepped into the door-way, his silhouette reflected on Rootkits eyes. She blinked, oddly curious why her mother bristled. "Bramblepaws," He spoke. "I thought we agreed you wouldn't come here," the vibrations from her mother's chest made Rootkit bristled as a shive ran down her spine, she kept her eyes on this tan and reddish cat, utterly curious of what the tom was doing here. Bramblepaws stood up, crouching close to the ground. "I wanted to see our-" "You have nothing to do with them," "-kits.." his voice faltered as Bramblepaws cut him off. Rootkit shuffled under her mother, unsure of how to react to the tom.
"I know what I said, but their still mine," the cat spoke, his tail flicked at the tip. "I dont want you around them!" Bramblepaws pushed Rootkit away into another nest, walking up to Amberclaw, his head reared back as she got closer, snarling at his frame, though she was smaller then him. "My brother is your father, huh?" an coy voice echoed in the curve of Rootkit's ear, she jumped, looking around her, she faced her right to find a pink-orange cat, brows quirked with interest in her. Rootkit stared, unsure of what to say. "Well?" the pinkish cat cocked her head to Amberclaw and Bramblepaws, they yelled at each other, but tried to keep it low. "yeah-" Rootkit spoke. "what about it?" she asked, her eyes followed the cat as she stood, black goo trickling off her chest fluff, her fur was ruffled and messy, two scars adorned her left cheek. "I'm your auntie, how cute is that?" she said softly, her tainted fur smelled of honey dew.
"Rootkit is my kit, correct?" Amberclaw yelled, looking over Rootkit, her green eyes wide. Rootkit just stared, after looking away from the she-cat all she could see was dying cats, some queens, other kits. Amberclaw' s head was bashed in, blood pooling at his paws, but his frame was acting like nothing happened at all, still arguing with her mother.
Rootkit blinked, the gorey sight disappearing. She looked behind her finding the pinkish cat sitting in the corner of the den, her blue pupils glowing before she blinked, her form being swept away with the wind. Rootkit turned back to her parents, finding Bramblepaws hovering over Sunkit and Tawnykit while they sniffed at Amberclaw wearily before lashing his tail and leaving. She turned to her mother as her sisters ran after each other. " is-" Bramblepaws lashed out at Rootkit. " Dont you DARE speak of that man! I want nothing to do with him!" Sunkit turned, stared at Rootkit as she stared up at her mother who spat like a rabid dog.
Rootkit blinked as her mother turned away, flopping down in a nest and curling up. She looked towards her sister whos wearily stood, waiting for their mother. Rootkit stepped out into the sunlight, blinked softly.
