After calming down myself I came back to the gym and saw that they were almost done with their first set. I'm glad that I didn't lose my shit just now. I decided to just ignore what Hinata says and focus on the match.
"Okay guys, take five" We're finally going for the second set and it's finally my time to play. Surprisingly they won the first set with that freak quick come back. Heh, I knew that the protagonist will alway get their way to win while I'm the side character who will just stay at the back. Watching them get all the spotlight.
It's time for the second set and I enter the court with french fries and green bean. I sigh and ready my position and I'm going to be the first one to serve. I put my forehead on the ball and sign to release the tension.
I toss the ball really high before jumping and hit it with so much force. It was going to the outline of the court and the other side lowered their guard because they thought it would be an out. Oh how wrong they were. Such cute and naive players.
The ball spun around just as it was about to touch the ground and it landed right inside the line. It was all silent until kind senpai decided to say "That was awesome! I thought you were going to do another jump serve like Kageyama but you actually did a toss spin serve!"
"What kind of magic is that! I swear the ball was going to be an out but it spun back and scored???" Yeah yeah I know that I'm amazing Hinata. So worship me you peasant.
"You're not that bad pinky" I gave french fries an unimpressed look and decided to just start with the next round. Since we score a point our team does another serve but this time I just do the basic underhand serve.
Baldy senpai managed to receive the ball and sent it to blueberry. My eyes trail his every movement and see which direction he will be setting. It went to the left and went past by french fries and green bean blocks. I ran from my place to receive the ball and sent it towards green bean.
Everything went as I predicted, I caught some of Blueberry's jump serve and even managed to block their quick attack but in the end we still lost. See? That's the power of a protagonist, no need to deny it.
I rested my tired body on the wall as I took out my water bottle. "...Hinata is natural in his speed and jump..." I tightened my grip on my bottle when I heard that. "As the captain of Karasuno volleyball club...let me welcome you all to the team" Everyone, except me and french fries, beamed when they heard that. I saw blueberry and Hinata look at each other before saying simultaneously "Thank you sir!"
