I'm so sorry this chapter is really short. But I've kept you waiting long enough, so I wanted to get this out to you as fast as I could. The next chapter probably won't be much longer than this one, so maybe you'll get it a lot sooner than you got this one. I hope you like it!

Chapter Six: Nosebleeds

Mo's P.O.V.

I hastily wipe at the tears on my face. My whole body is shaking and my cheek stings from where Barton slapped me, but I hardly feel the pain. I'm too angry to do anything other than shove Stark and Rogers off of me and stand.

They'd brought Barton less than ten minutes after they left me in the conference room. At first he'd just stood there as I tried to talk to him. He eventually acknowledged me, but I felt like I'd have preferred his ignorance over his hatred. I had known since yesterday that he would was more violent now, but I hadn't expected him to strike me while the rest of the Avengers team was less than a foot away from us. The red mark on my cheek, when I caught my reflection in the large glass window, proved otherwise.

I climbed onto a chair and sat on the table, crossing one of my legs and glaring at Barton. He stared back at me, blooding dripping from his busted nose, seeming to not notice it at all. I swallowed the lump in my throat and asked, "So what do we do now?" I was addressing the team as a whole, but my eyes never left Barton's.

"We put Barton back in his cell and allow him to rot there," Thor said darkly, glowering at the man in question.

Barton snorted. "Yeah, 'cause that'll solve all your problems, won't it?"

I rolled my eyes. "No, just leave him there. He's not harming anyone." Natasha sensed my sarcasm and approached me, reaching out to rub my shoulder with one hand. I smiled a little at her, but it didn't do much to help my mood. "Really, though, there's no sense in putting him back. He doesn't seem to want to hurt anyone besides me."

"He broke my nose," Natasha pointed out.

"You were being irritating," Barton answered. "I was just trying to shut you up. Nothing against you, of course. She just rubs me the wrong way." His blue eyes were cold as they watched me. "Anyway, Natasha, your nose seems to have healed fine. If anything, your look has improved."

She curled her lip in annoyance. "Shut up, Barton."

I waved at her to stop. I didn't want him any more aggravated than he already seemed to be. "What's our next approach?"

"Leaving me the hell alone?" Barton offered.

"Bird Man, shut your mouth before I knock your teeth out," Stark snapped. He looked at me, his brown eyes lit with frustration. "Are you sure we can't stick him back in the cell?"

I gave him a look; he clamped his jaws shut. "We're not putting him back. We're going to solve this. Right here. Right now." I glared at them all. "Got it?"

Slowly, they all nodded. Barton clapped. "Where do we start?"

"Keep it up, and I'll hit you," I said in a hiss.

He smirked. "I've already gotten you twice. Your turn."

I turned my attention to Rogers. "I'm beginning to think he's a hopeless cause. Why did you want me here?"

"He's not a hopeless cause," Natasha said firmly, although the way she was looking at Barton led me to assume she was beginning to doubt her words. Barton simply stared back at her, his blue eyes dark and foreboding.

I rolled my eyes and propped my chin on my hand, looking away from them all. "It's kind of hard to believe you when you don't even believe yourself."
