I glare at Ray with my phone still in my hand.  I really wanted to see what that message said.  "When are you going home."

"Woahhh attitude. I was just about to leave." Ray grabs her things and the snacks she stole from the kitchen.

"Can you come wa-"

"NO.  GO HOME" she smiles a little and mutters.  "sorry"

She slams my door.  My phone rests in the palm of my hand lighting up the room.  "Shit." I run my hands through my black braids sighing.
Ping!
I grab my phone as fast as I could.

Ray:
I think I left my jacket☹️

Me:
Come back tomorrow and get it.

I turn my ringer off before getting my keys. My red vans sit in the corner before I swiftly grab them slipping them on. Grabbing my aux cord, I make my way outside to my car.

"Deynei! Hey!"

Right before I unlock my car doors, the old lady makes her way towards me smiling. Great she's gonna talk until the fucking moon comes out. I put on a warm smile before responding with a enthusiastic "hi Mrs. lamb!"

She grips my shoulder lightly before pulling me in for a hug. "How are you sweetheart?"
I hesitate a little.  I would like to say irritated but then she'll start to blame herself for some odd reason.

"I'm good.  You?" She starts to lean on my car.  Why does she always feel the need to touch my car.

"You know im just an elderly woman trying to live life.  Where are you about to go?" to mind my business.

"Ah just going out for a little drive." I add a warm smile before grabbing my door handle. "Well I have to go now Mrs. lamb."

"Oh you sure you don't wanna stay and talk to me?" I smile a little before opening my door.

"I'm sorry Mrs. Lamb as soon as I come back we can talk."

"Ok sweetheart." She smiles backing away from my car. "Now you have a safe trip okay?"

"Okay thank you." I put my car in reverse and back out slowly.  Before taking off.

I kinda feel bad for Mrs. lamb.  Her daughter left home at 18 and hasn't visited since.  She always talks to me about her and how much she's misses and loves her.  I just try to be there because she doesn't have anyone else.

"Deynei?" Great I came out to get food and someone knows me.  Picking up my food box, I turn my head to the sound of their voice.  My eyes widen.

"Daniel?!" I laugh while staring straight at him. He ushers me to sit next to him.
"How have you been?" I scoot in the booth next him making me instantly warm.

"I've been good. I see you still look beautiful as ever." He smiles before reaching over to grab his drink.

I chuckle and let out a smile sigh. "Wow still with that flirty shit huh?" Daniel is my ex. The sweetheart that was my first true love. I still have love for him. So I lied when I said I was over him. I mean I am but not COMPLETELY.

"I'm not being flirty, I'm only telling the truth." Talking to him is hard. He makes me smile so much without trying. I hate smiling.

"So what are you doing back here in Santa Monica? I thought you left for New York?" I do admit I scroll through his Instagram sometimes. Last time I was on his page he was in NYC

"Ah I did, I came back to see your pretty face." I slap his arm almost immediately. Softly of course.

"Boy stop lying. What are you really doing here?" He smiles before rubbing his hands through his hair.

"I'm here for my friend. I think I'll stay this time. Now that I've seen your face." He stares in my soul with that smirk on his face. My eyes widen a little before doing the same thing. I want to break eye contact but I can't. It's hard with him.

"Daniel." A light girly voice leads me to break contact.
She glared at me before asking a simple but confusing question. "Why are you staring at my man?"

Your man?
