'Make him trust you,' Fury's voice bounces in my head, "I hope no one is allergic to cinnamon," I chuckle as I flip the last pancake onto the stack. "Not that I know of, although I don't seem to fit in well with FitzSimmons," he laughs as well, talking a seat at the kitchen aisle. "Come on, what about May? I mean she used to be an operative, right?" I question, feigning curiousness but internally rolling my eyes as I 'absentmindedly' lean against the counter across from his seat. "An operative? She's the Calvary," he announces, his arms flailing to add emphasis to his statement. "And, who is 'The Calvary?'" I chuckle at his actions, watching amusement flicker in his eyes at my laugh. He goes on to tell me some bullshit story about her single handedly taking on a whole army, 'Well, luv, I was there, and it wasn't an army, just an enhanced individual,' I say internally. "That's so cool!" I say, my British accent getting heavier as I feign shock at the hero on the plane. "I can't believe I've never heard of the Calvary before," I say loudly, feeling May's presence just outside the room, "Don't call me that," she grumbles as she walks into the kitchen in her workout clothes. "Max, want to train? I want to see how good you are?" She smiles, although I see the hidden smirk in her eyes, "Sure," I say, "but I didn't know pilots train," I tease quietly in her ear as I walk by her to the bunks to change.
AN HOUR LATER...
"D-Did you just beat May?" Ward gapes, "I've been here a week and I can barely get a punch in," he says, looking at me impressed, 'She obviously let me win,' I groan in my head but smile happily at him. "I told you, I don't sleep much, and I when I can't sleep, I train," I smile innocently at his shocked expression, "So, no boyfriend to call when you can't sleep then," he observes, "I've never had time for one, I've been going on missions since I was 15, and no high schooler wants to date a girl whose stronger than them," I explain, lying through my teeth. 'He seems to like inexperienced girls, so act innocent,' Fury explained in the debriefing for this assignment. "So you've never had a boyfriend?!" He questions, his shock expressed clearly on his face, I shake my head 'no' and force myself to look embarrassed at the confession. "Max, there you are! I need to have a word with you, please," Coulson's voice cuts off the lie I was about to tell Ward about needing to call a friend, I walk up the spiral staircase and to his office, following behind him. "Thanks for the save," I smile once we reach his office, "Anytime, Max," he smiles, "You are welcome to escape in here anytime you'd like, as long as I'm not on a call," he smiles, "I might just take you up on that offer," I return the smile, and nod at him before excusing myself to the showers.
