Saturday 6:50PM

"You don't want to do this" I said as I sprung up from the ground. He grabbed my hand "I do, Mattie." I pulled my hand away and turned away from him, he stood up. "I think it's best we head home" My voice broke and I began walking away. Why did my life have to be so complicated? I wanted to let him in but I couldn't.

Saturday 7:00PM

I parked in my driveway and turned off the engine and sighed. "Im sorry Mattie, I really am." he began getting out of the car but i stopped him. "Sammy, I- I just- it's complicated okay?" A single tear rolled down my cheek. He sighed and walked across to his house. I walked into the house to be greeted by the smell of fresh strawberry pie. "Hi honey, look what I made! You're favorite!" She smiled pointing to the pie. It was really dad's favorite and I think she knew that but loosing dad was difficult for her. She still hasn't let go of him and neither have I. "Thanks mom" I smiled at her and hugged her. "Where is James?" I asked. "Oh he's staying with his friends tonight. Boys night I guess." She laughed and I breathed a sigh of relief. This might be the one normal night I get.

Monday 6AM

I woke up earlier this morning from a bad dream. I decided to get up and get dresses for work. I changed and began to head down stairs. As I made it down there nobody was home, which was unusual. I grabbed a pack of muffins and went on my way.

Monday 8AM
I walked through the doors and saw a familiar face, Sammy. "Hey, I didn't expect to see you here." I said as I put my apron on. He didn't say anything. "Silent treatment?" I  looked over at him. "Im sorry Mattie" He turned to me and leaned against the counter. "What for?" I asked, crossing my arms. "What happened the other day. I shouldn't have done that and it was stupid I just-" I grabbed his hand. "It's okay" I smiled and released his hand.

1 Week Later

Wednesday 3PM

Sammy and I have worked together for a week now and I have to say he caught on fast. The customers loved him and left great tips. It made my job easier with the extra help. Lunch rush was finally over and I was cleaning the dished when-

CRASH

"SHIT!" I yelled. I dropped a plate. Sammy came running from the back. "Are you okay? let me help you" I bent down and we began picking up the broken glass when my sleeve came up. "Mattie" Sammy yelled whole grabbing my arm. "What is this? What happened?" His grip tightened. "It's nothing Sammy, let go." I pulled away and fell from my knees to my bottom. I pulled my sleeve down quickly as our manager came out to see what was happening. "Whats going on out here?" He said. "Nothing Jeremy, I just dropped a plate and Sammy was helping me clean it up" I cleaned up the pieces as he watched. "Thats coming from your paycheck." He walked back to his office. Sammy watched him walk away and then he looked at me. "Why do you do that? Why are you mutilating yourself?" he asked, his voicer was deeper than usual. "It helps Sammy, now drop it. You didn't see anything."  I walked away.
