Friday, 6:45 am

I woke up with a raging fire in my throat. I remembered what happened last night and I cried. I don't remember a night where I didn't have to live in fear, to scared to go to bed. People say "sleep with one eye open" as a joke but in my case it's serious.

After staring at my bruised neck and my swelled up lip with dry blood, I began to get ready. Thankfully is was colder weather so wearing a scarf wasn't weird. Carefully, I dabbed makeup on my neck, wiped my lip off and covered it with satin red lipstick just to be safe.

Friday, 7:00 am

Arriving at work, I saw James. Bloody hell. He walked towards me with his hands in his coat pockets. "Mornin sunshine!" he called out as he neared me. I couldn't even look at his disgusting face. "Well?" he asked. "Well what?" I groaned. "Ask why i'm here!" he was oddly happy then again he was always happy after taking advantage of me. "Why are you here, James?" He was making me late to open up. Every Friday I had to open up at the Huddle House. "I came so my beautiful girl could cook for me, that's what women are good for right?" he smiled at me but I walked off.

I put the key in and turned it when I could hear his footsteps coming closer. I felt his warm breath on my neck, fighting the cold morning air. "I love you." he whispered in my ear. He's already drank this morning and it's only 7:10am. I took a deep breath and opened the door, he followed closely behind. "You have such a nice ass." he mentioned as he sat at the bar.
What the hell I thought to myself.

"Are you listening to me?" he began to raise his voice. "yes I am" I mumbled while I made his usual. "Then you reply to me god damnit or i'll-"

"excuse me, my car broke down can someone help me?" a young lady is a silky pink dress, matching pink shoes and fur coat asked. She looked to rich to be from around here and it was entirely to cold for a dress, she must be traveling. "I'll be out in one second" I gave her a friendly smile but she still stood there at the door staring at me... specifically my neck. I pulled my scarf up and turned towards the grill to give James his food.

I reached the woman's car and I noticed someone in the front seat. "Idk what happened but it just stopped" she grunted. I looked in the hood and found the problem. "You just need an oil change, I can call someone for you if you'd like" I gave her a cold grin. "you cant fix it?" she asked in an upset manner. "I can but-" she cut me off. "Fabulous, so you'll fix it. Be quick!" I marched off. Just what I needed this morning.

"I just need to get the oil" I yelled without turning. "Wait miss." a deeper voice said, grabbing my arm. "ouch" I said. I was lined with bruises and cuts on my arms from my stepdad. I spun around to see an extremely gorgeous boy around my age with blonde hair, green eyes and a sharp jawline. "I'm terribly sorry, did I hurt you? My apologies" he said holding his hands up.
