They both cleaned up most of the mess in the office and decided to talk after they brought Aestrella to her room.
"Please tell me what happened Dem." Gianna looked up at him, her brown eyes filled with worry, while his eyes held anger though not towards her. She didn't back down from her mate's intense gaze knowing that his anger wasn't directed towards her but towards the situation that happened.
After a few moments of complete silence, he finally sighed and began telling Gianna what he was told over the phone. "Romulus overheard that surrounding countries are starting to experience major blackouts for long periods. They can last anywhere from a few minutes up to a few days."
This was a huge shock towards Gianna considering all countries that held the angel population was very efficient. This was a major issue for the countries that had to deal with this problem. Especially considering that the days had recently started becoming hotter by the day. But she knew her mate, and she knew that he would stop at nothing to try and resolve this ongoing issue for his people.
Though all angels relatively ruled and governed themselves but, just like any state that had a president, so did the angels. More so a leader that helped in crises. But the angels lived more relaxed and less governed lives, they were very independent beings. The leader looked out for their people, and when there was an issue the people knew that could come to their leader.
Gianna continued to look at Dimitri rubbing a soothing hand along his back and arm. She knew there was something wasn't telling her but decided not to put the matter further knowing he was already dealing with a lot of stress as is.
She gave him a sympathetic smile, and although Dimitri didn't voice his thoughts out loud he appreciated having his mate at his side comforting him. He gently gripped her hand that was grazing his arm and brought it to his lips kissing the back of her hand. She smiled at his affection towards her and laid her head on his shoulder.
They sat next to each other with Gianna's head laying on Dimitri's shoulder, a comfortable silence falling over them.
Dimitri waited a few moments enjoying the relaxing company of his mate before he chuckled more to himself than out loud and started speaking, "As much as I would love to stay like this with you next to me forever, there are other matters that we must discuss." Gianna fully sat up, still tightly holding onto his hand which even now still gave her butterflies. Finally, she faced him completely, showing that she was now giving him her full attention.
He took a deep breath, only making Gianna worry that there was an even bigger issue at hand. But when Dimitri started to speak it only made matters worse..."Not only are there ongoing blackouts, but there is also talk of some sort of darkness. It appears to only happen at the same time as the blackouts and it can happen any time of the day. The sky begins to grow pitch black as if it were nighttime, but there would no stars and the moon won't shine, only darkness. The other angels are beginning to worry something a little more serious might be happening."
At this point Gianna was completely stunned, no words could be said. She knew that immediate precautions needed to be taken to understand and solve this issue as fast as possible. This was something that not only affected Dimitri's people's lives but hers as well. She felt as much as these people were under Dimitri's rule they were also her's to protect.
Gianna stood up and started pacing the floor frantically. "We must go as soon as possible and see what we can do! We must find a way to help these people in need-" Dimitri knew that as much as he cared for his people it could never beat the love that Gianna shared for them men and women included.
