2•The Kims

Kim Taehyung is cheerful, good looking and belongs to a very wealthy family, The Kims. The Kims Enterprise and its wholly owned subsidiaries, headed by his father, are tycoons in the Korean Corporate World.

Kim Taehyung  was born into the hands of his excessively loving mother, which was the result of her long anticipation and yearning to have a baby. He had no filial affection for his father who was more like a person who visits him once or twice a month. He had very few conversations with him. This along with surplus of everything he needed contributed in turning him into a shy and introverted boy. He had very few friends at school and was an easy prey for bullies. His whole teenage life whirled around his mother.

He always had a passive attitude towards studies and his parents were unbothered about his low marks. 

He loved to draw and paint.

But he kept his interest in arts hidden, even from his mother. He was afraid that his father would disapprove of it. All his relatives and family friends were successful businessmen, working together for The Kims Company. No one ever tried to deviate from that path. He too will be compelled to join the company...

Kim Taehyung looked exactly like his father. The only difference he found out while examining his old photographs were the wrinkles on his forehead. Years of squinting and frowning left those on him as a sign of the pressure and stress he had to face to bring the company to its present renowned state. 

And the furrows only deepened by time.........

Tae's grandfather died in a car accident when Mr. Kim was just 17 years old. But one of the maids in the household had once told Tae that he was, in fact, murdered by some opponents in business. Mr. Kim had been the head of the company since then.

Mrs. Kim was settled in Malaysia when Tae's father met her on a business trip. They fell in love and soon got hitched. 

Tae had always questioned how senseless the story was. 

-Maybe this is why people say that love is blind-

They neither spent time together nor talked to each other fondly. Mr. Kim was always busy at work and Mrs.Kim relished every moment of her life remaining as a homemaker, raising her child.

He also wondered why he never inherited any of his father's skills. 

When Mr. Kim took over the company it was at the verge of going bankrupt. Conflicts within the share-holders ands threats from larger companies made it worse. Nonetheless he worked hard and developed the company from a local startup to an internationally recognised company.

After the completion of three years of lower secondary school, his mother asked him, "Tae, Dad told me to ask you about your future plans."

"What future plans mom-m?"

"The course you want to pursue for your higher grades and all..."She said sitting beside him on bed.

"Am I not supposed to join the company?"

"Of course, if that's what you like. He thinks that you might not be interested in such hectic lifestyle. That's why I came to ask your opinion."

-What! Is this really happening!!-

He was taken aback..

He went downstairs...

Mr. Kim was in his workroom. He used to spend most of his time there, when he was at home. The room was more like his personal library, with the shelves filled with his vast collection of mythological books.

He was 13 years old when he first entered that room. He had expected it to be full of books regarding financial planning and business strategies.

He was surprised when he found out that his father had an interest in something other than business, which he was unheard of.

He opened the door.

Mr. Kim, who was engrossed in reading, quickly closed the book and kept it aside.

Tae got a glimpse of the title- 

"Downfall of .... "

He said feebly, "I would love to do my further studies in Arts."
