Chapter 1

Emma POV

I'm walking around the Boarding School making sure everything is in its rightful place. Every book, every statue, every plaque.

Ric said there was a family coming to enroll their daughter into our school. The way he was telling me about it made it seem like he was hiding something from me. But I'll find out what he's hiding soon enough.

We just celebrated Asher and Kaia's 17th birthday last month and Lizzie and Josie's birthday back in March. Now in another two weeks we're going to celebrate the triplet's 16 birthday.

I'm walking back to my office when I see that my door is slightly open. I slowly make my way to the door and slam it open. To find 6 people in my office.

My husband and my children. Kol is sitting in my chair, the two boys are sitting on the bench by the window. Kaia is leaning on the side of my desk, and Taryn and Elysia are sitting in the two chairs in front of my desk.

I laugh and roll my eyes at them.

"What are you all doing in my office?" I ask my family as I walk over to my seat.

Kol stands up from my chair and kisses me on my lips. I roll my eyes and chuckle as I hear gagging noises being made from my children.

"Well darling, we figured we could all have a nice lunch together. Seeing as the new school year starts soon and we are all going to be busy."

My kids let out a chorus of agreements.

I nod my head. "That sounds nice, let me grab my things."

As I'm grabbing my things there's a knock on my door.

"Come in!"

Alaric walks in.

"Hey Ric did you need something?"

He looks at me nervously and I furrow my brows in confusion.

"Uh Ric what's going on?" I question.

"I have to tell you something about that family coming tomorrow."

I cross my arms and lean on my desk. "Uh huh. What is it?"

He takes a deep breath and looks at all of us in the room.

"It's the Mikaelsons." I see the twins tense and I hear Kol curse under his breath.

My family knows everything that happened between Klaus and I, I didn't want that to be kept a secret from them.

"What are you talking about? Who are they enrolling?" I question.

"Klaus's daughter Hope." My eyes widen at this information.

"What? We have a sister?" Asher and Kaia exclaim at the same time. The triplets sit there with shocked looks on their faces. While Kol stands behind me with his hands on my waist.

"What do you mean Klaus's daughter? Who the hell did he have a kid with?" I ask.

"Hayley Marshall." he answers.

I clench my jaw. "How old is she?" I ask through gritted teeth.

"She just turned 17." Ric answers before looking at the floor.

That son of a bitch, he did cheat on me. After all these years I was never certain, but now I know.

Kol's grip tightens on my waist. "Well I see my bastard brother found another way to live up to his name."

I turned around and whacked Kol on his chest. "Watch your language around the kids."

Kol looked at me and chuckled. "Sorry darling, but I'm pretty sure they're old enough to hear the word bastard."
