Proverbs 1:18 (NLT)
[18] But not these people! They set an ambush for themselves; they booby-trap their own lives!
In what way are you booby trapping your own life? I'm afraid that a lot of what we blame on others really is our blundering. It is not always directly so it is not always easy to see. Solomon suggest that a person can be trapped in their own trap or mess. How? Making choices without counsel, yielding to our feelings instead of our faith, going after wants instead of taking care of needs, making short term decisions without weighing the long term affects, seeking other peoples approval to fill your own insecurity and insignificance. To act without God, is to booby trap yourself. 1. Put first things first. 2. Reject the need for immediate gratification. 3. Make your pastor an integral part of your decision making process. 4. Look for repeat traps that your parents may have set before.
