I was listening to a conversation between Tess and Eden when I got a call. I decided to ignore it until I saw who it was from: Anden. I excused myself and walked into another room and answered it.
"Yes, Anden?" I said.
"June, how--how are you doing?" Anden said with nervousness in his voice. What's going on?
"Is there something wrong?" Of course there's something wrong.
"Well..."
"Anden! What is it?" I practically yell into the phone.
"It's West Australia. They aren't exactly happy with our new Sea Transportation Act." The Sea Transportation Act was a very controversial move. It changed the way the entire world shipped items and transported people throughout the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.
"And?" I asked. There better be more to this...
"They want us to revoke the act, or else..."
"Or else... what?" I asked cautiously.
"Or else they'll declare war on the Republic."
"What? When did they say this?"
"A couple of months ago."
"And why wasn't I notified sooner?" I tried my best to stay calm. War?
"I've been very busy, I apologize, June."
"Well, why are you calling me now?"
"Congress hasn't responded, due to other important national matters. And West Australia has sent spies over to the Republic in hopes to find information." I don't answer. Instead I hang up and run into the kitchen.
I try to tell them what was going on, but the words came out in a jumbled mess. I looked at their faces, filled with confusion, turned, and ran out the door. As I run through the dark streets of Los Angeles, I sense someone following me. I turn a sharp corner and try to see who was following me.
I see vibrant blue eyes, searching. Day. Thank god, I thought. "Daniel? What're you doing?" I ask.
"I couldn't hold back anymore." he looked deep in my eyes, and kissed me,
crushing his lips onto my own. "I've been wanting to do that for a while now." he says when we part. I just smile... until I realize why I was running.
"Come on." I say grabbing hold on his wrist. We run to the city hall, where Anden was dealing with federal matters.
I burst through the door and head over to Anden's office, letting go of Daniel's wrist.
"June?" He said standing up from his seat, "What are you doing here?"
"We need to talk. Now."
