May I Have This Dance?

-James POV-
While Megan was engaged in a conversation I dragged Oliver away and we started to catch up with everyone. Oliver wandered off at some point and Dan came over and started talking to me.

"Nice girlfriend you have, I like her" Dan said

"We aren't dating." I roughly replied.

"You should"

"She would never want to."

"How do you know?"

"I just do"

"Fine, but you can't fail without trying."

"Wha.....?" Before I could finish he left me there alone again. Somewhere in the distance music started playing, I was absorbed in an argument inside of my head that I didn't notice Oliver walking up to me.

"What's wrong?" he said

"Nothing"

"Sure, I know you you're my brother and I can tell that something is wrong."

I grunted and he mumbled under his breath and left me.

I had some small talk with people as they come and go, some people encouraged me to dance, I actually had fun, I hadn't seen Megan since the party started. I spotted the back of her head and made my way over.
"Hey Megan what's up?" I said.
"The sky" she snorting looking up from a conversation with Emily.
"Fun, hey...er... want to dance?" I asked.
"Well this isn't exactly a dancing song" she said
She was right I wasn't.
"Then why don't I wait with you until one comes on" I said sitting next to her.
"Maybe a rain check?" she asked slightly sliding away.
"Yeah... sure" i said disappointed. I walked away and tried to just have a normal conversation with my friends and trying to hide my sadness. I continued being sad for awhile longer until I felt a rap on my back. i shrugged it off, but the person tapping was persistent. I looked behind me to see Megan looking at me expectantly.
"What do you want?" i said, to roughly oops, she flinched, god I'm an idiot.
"Ummm can I turn in that rain check?" she asked slightly hesitant.
The song that just started playing was easily danceable for two people so I nodded and we walked out to the dance floor and danced.
I didn't want the song to end she was amazing, in every way, I loved the way she looked at me. no one else existed, it was only us, the whole world disappeared and only she was left, I was in love. Halfway through the song she pulled away and ran off, I tried to chase after her but with the crowds it was hard to see her, I quickly lost her but I still looked.
