Chapter 1 - I Wish to Be a Star

My name is Jeanette. I'm 12 years old and I live in LA with my mom and dad. LA is where dreams come true. Everyone knows this. Everyone EXCEPT my parents! All my life, I have wished to be a movie star. In my dreams, I see myself in the movies. I am in drama class in my school and my teacher says I have all the potential. I guess my parents do not understand. 

I was hearing at school some girls talking. One of the biggest directors was in town! Jorge Hernandez*! He is here trying to find a girl for his next film. He directs the best kids and teen movies. They're always cute and have a bit of romance with some action mixed in. I would love so much to be in a Jorge Hernandez film. 

I was at home eating dinner with my parents that night. We were eating my mom's special soup that she makes every Wednesday. I got a piece of bread and was eating it and started to think more about Hernandez being here. 

     "Mom and Dad, can I talk to you both?" I asked them.

     "Of course." My dad said.

     "Well, Jorge Hernandez is here in LA and he is looking for a girl for his next film. I really would to go to the audition please."

     "You know that we do not want you acting. We do not want you in the movie business. It isn't a good place. That is how we feel." My mom said to me. 

     "Mom! Dad! Please! Every girl in LA is going to audition! I know that I could do it! I know I could be an actress. I have the talent! Maybe if Jorge Hernandez could just meet me..." I was saying to them.

     "No, young lady. We have told you how we feel. Do not disrespect us by arguing about this. The movie business is not a place for young people. We are your parents and we want you to spend your time doing normal kid things. Now, do not ask us again." My dad scolded me.

     "Fine, I won't ask again. I'm sorry. I'm not hungry anymore though. I'm going to my room." I said. 

I got up from the table and cleaned up my things. I went to my room. I closed my door hard because I was angry. 

I turned on my TV and was looking for things to watch. I saw that movie Star Kid on. The movie is ok. The boy in it is actually pretty cute. I think he was in those Jurassic Park movies. If I ever could be an actress, I would like to work with a boy like him. I have seen his picture in those magazines before. His name is Joseph Mazzello. I wonder what he is like in real life. 

You know what? I told my mom and dad that I would not ask them again about auditioning. Well, I just won't ask them. However, I WILL audition. This is my dream!

Ok, so I do not write stories very much. I know that if she live in LA movie directors would probably be there all the time. Maybe I should change her town. I will see. I am writing the note after I put this on here. English is not my mother language. The English written in the story is helped because the older sister of my boyfriend is a very good English speaker and is  fluent speaker. I write my chapters and she correct my mistakes and send them back to me. Maybe I should change the town? Or I will make it that they just move to LA...I think I like that better.
