This is starting to become a habit. Daydreaming. I pictured myself at the beach with the guy that I love. Not sure if this is going to happen or not but I hope it will. It’s too bad that my life is not like the novels that I read, wherein the girl falls in love with the perfect guy and a sudden climax happens in the story that makes the novel even more interesting and after that, they live happily ever after. But unfortunately, I guess my life is really far from that kind of plot. By the way, the name’s Arianne Givens. I’m the not-so-good gal to hang out with but when you do see me hanging out with some folks that means they’re my friends.
Today’s Tuesday and my Dad, Oliver Givens, prepared breakfast. I can smell the bacon and cheese omelet from my room. I’m just sitting in my bed not sure what to do first until I heard my Dad saying ‘breakfast is ready’.
I did my regular habit of taking a quick bath and changing my clothes. I picked out random clothes from my closet and I got a white lace blouse and shorts. I went down stairs because I’m starving and the omelet smells great.
“Good morning.” My Dad said, holding two glasses of orange juice. He placed it on the table where the omelet was served.
“Good morning.” I said. Dad started eating and I followed him.
“So, going somewhere today?” Dad asked and I’m pretty sure he knows the answer to it. He knows that I always go to Miss Hale’s Library every day.
“I’m returning a book to Miss Hale.”
“Great. Meet me at the animal reserve at 2 o’ clock.” Dad said. This is quite a surprise, dad never invited me to the animal reserve. He works in there voluntarily which means he never receive any salary. Apparently, I think all of the people working in the animal reserve are volunteers. They take care of animals and raise them. They also have shelters for stray animals.
Dad probably wants me to work in the animal reserve too that’s why he invited me to come and visit him.
“Sure. I’ll see you there.” I said.

I was just about to go to the library to borrow another novel. I just finished the novel ‘Dear John’ by Nicholas Sparks yesterday and it was really great. Looks like I’m spending my summer by reading lots of books. Miss Hale, the local librarian, keeps on recommending me some books to read and I just can’t say no to her. She’s just too good. So, I took a bike ride to the library which is a kilometer away from the beach. Miss Hale is expecting me to be there any minute from now.
I can feel the wind brushing my hair and the sun directly staring at me. I know it’s going to be another great day for everyone but not for me, I guess. Since the day mom passed away, Dad never allowed me to celebrate or even have a simple get-away with my colleagues at the beach. But it’s better that way. He’s still in the period of getting over and moving on but I guess him and mom were really in love with each other that’s why he had a hard time. Aunt Vilma drops by to visit us from time to time. She brings lasagna every time she comes by to visit. And she just dropped by to deliver her lasagna a while ago. Aunt Vilma is Mom’s younger sister and we’re very very close.
I was about to make a left turn in the road when something caught my attention. A group of men hailed a cab in a seemingly random place. If the local police officers catch them, I’m sure they’ll be in the police office in no time. But I guess, they’re just tourists so it’s no big deal. But that was not the only thing that caught my attention, it was one of the men. He was bringing with him a guitar and he seems to be not interested in what’s going on. He’s too busy looking at the surroundings, glancing from one space to the other. He looked up at the sky and he smiled at the sun. Looks like it’s his first time setting foot in a tropical place, everything about him seemed to be light. Seeing him smile made me warm which is actually weird. I’m guessing he’s just too excited but I have never seen someone so excited that they act so much like a kid. He had the best smile I’d say, his eyes were glowing and even his face brightened up a bit. He glanced everywhere until he noticed me in my bike staring at him. The first thing that I thought was ‘oh crap’, I pulled my eyes back at the road and pedaled even faster.
