You waited in the servant quarters for your orders to be brought through for the day. The entire mansion was asleep, except for you, waking up early at 3 AM to begin preparing breakfast, while cleaning, etc.

You were a maid, and a damn good one at that. You'd do anything to serve the Riddle name, because he was the one who had saved you. And although he detests unknown family history, he made an exception for you. Not knowing if you were pureblood, mudblooded, or a measly half-blood, he still took you in.

A bell ringed at approximately 6:31 AM, the bell to the private study connected to the master bedroom. One second you were sitting on the bed, the next you were twisting and turning until you appeared from thin air in front of his desk. You stood in a proper bow until addressed by your superior. "Good morning Y/N, did you rest well?"

"Yes sir, thank you for your display of kindness. And good morning to you as well, would you like breakfast?" You replied formally, straightening your back, but keeping your head bowed. He was sitting, therefor you keep your head pointed downwards so he understands you're not challenging him.

"No, I believe I'd just like some coffee, or tea, and please, I told you to not be so formal when it's just us two," he muttered while standing up, his gloved hand grabbing your chin. You dared to look into his eyes, only to see pure admiration in his hazel iris. "I miss the look of your eyes love, please.

"But it's disrespectful, you're my superior, I'm not to look at your face," your eyes averted and instead looked at his chest. The rhythmic rising and falling as he breathed. "But, as you wish, sir," you whisper before looking back up into his eyes.

His thumb caressed your bottom lip, pulling it down to watch it fall and snap back into place. He blinked himself out of his trance and took a step back before sitting at his desk again. "Id like you to also put a protection spell around the house, there is an upcoming war, and I dont want you or the place we live in the crossfire."

We. That's the biggest thing you got from his statement. That he didn't think of it as just his house, with you living in it. He looked at it as if it were a shared house. "Yes sir, is that all?"

"Yes, that's all, love. Youre dismissed."

You bowed your head again, and as you turned around, you apparated back into the kitchen. Mental magic was your strong suit, and you had been so many things at once without even realizing it.

You were making coffee, working on grinding rose petals for the protection spell, dusting everywhere, cleaning every surface in the house, and beginning to prepare lunch all at the same time. It was impressive, even in a magical world. To do all of these things, without lifting your wand. Tom was especially appreciative, he loved to watch the way you would calmly read in the garden while his entire room was being cleaned.

You were as skilled with mental magic as 5 wizards with their wands. And even more powerful with your wand. It was admirable, and worth using. That was his original reason for hiring you, after killing a muggle who was attempting to sexually assault you on the streets of London. He was going to kill you too, put your bloodied body out of its misery, but as soon as he lifted his wand it flew across the alleway.

He instead decided to wait till you woke up, and took you to his home, and as you woke up, you begged for forgiveness. He silently watched you with curiosity, until he asked, "how did you do mental magic when you were knocked out?"

"Oh, im not sure, if im being completely honest. It's just something I've always been able to do," you said back. "But for saving my life, I'm forever in your dept, please allow me to do something for you!"
