"Mr. Stark, could we pick up now where we left off?" The senator tries to get Tony's attention but fails. "Mr. Stark. Please." I glare at Tony as he just sits there, staring into space. I nudge the side of his leg with my foot and he immediately sits up.
"Yes, dear?" he asks the old guy, seeing his glare.
"Can I have your attention?" Senator Stern looks at him, being obvious about his hate with the man that I call my boss. I turn around and see Pepper shaking her head.
"Absolutely." Tony waves his hand, leaning back again.
"Do you or do you not possess not only one, but two specialized weapons?" Senator stern asks.
"No. I do not" Tony shrugs in response, glancing at me.
"You do not? Miss Rolling, you don't either?" I shake my head but Tony interrupts me from speaking.
"It depends on how you define the word weapon." He sighs.
"The Iron Man weapon." The senator vocalises, almost rolling his eyes.
"Our devices do not hit that description." Tony shrugs.
"Well... how would you describe them?" The senator asks, looking at a file in his hands. Behind me, I could hear the various clicking of cameras and I could feel the heavy stares of people's eyes on me. I knew that cameras were recording the whole thing, so I wished that Tony would calm down and not embarrass us.
"I would describe it by defining it as what it is, Senator." He looks over to me quickly and gives me a grin which just makes me roll my eyes. Why do I always befriend the cocky ones...?
"As?" Stern encourages, waiting for an answer.
"It's a high-tech prosthesis." The crowd laughs and Tony tries to talk again. "That is... That is..."
"That's actually the most apt description that he can make of it. It's part of us, not just something that we built to play with." I yell above all the voices. It quietens down everyone and Senator Stern faces towards me.
"It's a weapon. Just a weapon that 2 big kids have built." He emphasises the word toy and I grit my teeth. How I would like to use the 'toy' on him.
"Please, if your priority was actually the well-being of the American citizen..." I'm interrupted by the senator and I huff angrily.
"My priority is to get the Iron Man weapon's turned over to the people of the United States of America." He says stubbornly.
"Well, you can forget it. Like my lovely assistant here just said - I am Iron Man. The suit and I are one and it's exactly the same as her suit and herself. To turn over the suits would be to turn over myself which is tantamount to indentured servitude or prostitution, depending on what state you're in. You can't have it." I stifle a giggle and I'm sure the people around me could hear.
"Look, I'm no expert..." Stern tries to say, but Tony jumps in.
"In prostitution? Of course not. You're a senator. Come on." I look at Tony who was sitting next to me and I see a certain sparkle that appears in his eyes when he's being cheeky or he's happy. The latter was a very unusual thing. He looked over to me and I just shake my head which he responds with a raised eyebrow.
"I'm no expert in weapons...." The senator acted like Tony didn't say anything even though everyone in the room was pretty much laughing. "We have somebody here who is an expert on weapons. I 'd now like to call Justin Hammer, our current primary weapons contractor." The cocky idiot staggers in, looking at the two of us with an arrogant stance.
