Judging by the sounds of court shoes, it was a woman. Her white, furry hands slammed on Sans' deck. "You need to help me !"
Sans lifted the hat that was covering his field of view. The woman was tall, and looked quite strong. Her face looked familiar. She had a severe look, and seemed angry. Not enough to impress Sans. "Ma'am, before anything, I'd like to remind you that lost items, pets or spying on your husband isn't a job for a private detective..."
"I know, but-"
"And if it's for a cat in a tree, remember that the Police still exists, and I'm sure they'll love to help you with that." Sans declared, used to seeing that kind of people.
"It's for neither of those futilities !" She replicated, slamming her hands on his old desk again.
Hearing this, Sans put his feet under his desk, and pulled a lever on the side of his chair, whose back immediately redressed. "...Really ? Now you have my interest. Tell me what this is all about."
"I am here to report... a kidnapping."
"A ki- WHAT ?!"
Sans' jaw dropped. Surely he hadn't heard that right.
"I said a kidnapping." The woman replicated calmly, while staring at him in a way he didn't like. While the potential to solve such a big case tingled Sans' interest greatly, some things just weren't clear to him.
"A... B-but why won't you report that to the Police ?"
She looked at him like he had made some kind of joke.
"Do you not know who I am, Mr. Sans ?"
"Well, although your face seems familiar, I must admit that..."
She sighed, opened the purse she was wearing, and took a journal out of it. On the front page was a photography of her smiling and standing in front of a large building. Sans had seen this before.
"Oh, right ! You're that woman that caused a lot of drama with her orphanage. The mayor got implied, if I remember well..."
"He sure did. I am Miss Toriel, ex-wife of the mayor, and founder of the first multi-racial orphanage on the island, in Old Hometown." She said it like if she was used to this sentence.
"Yeah, I remember now. You said you wanted to protect human refugees, right ?"
"Exactly. Those last years, human arrival in various monster territories has greatly increased. I knew it would only be a matter of time before our island would have unexpected visitors too. And as you know... our community isn't really friendly with human." She had left his desk to look outside the window.
"Yes... I think I see what you mean. But this is not about politics. Come to the point, please."
"Oh, well it's much more political than you may think. But alright... here we go :
My idea of an orphanage/refuge worked out really well. I was able to house most, if not all the humans that had arrived here. They're all adorable, and I absolutely love taking care of them but...
A few months ago, 4 and a half exactly, there was a newcomer. A special one. The child had been found alone in a lifeboat drifting near the coast. We assume they're from a ship that unfortunately sinked, but they have no memory of anything from their life prior to meeting us. Only a name. Frisk."
